Position Overview:
We are seeking a visionary and results-driven Director of Retail Operations to lead and elevate our golf retail program. This executive-level position is responsible for the strategic planning, development, and execution of all retail initiatives at our club. The ideal candidate brings a deep understanding of the golf retail industry, proven experience in driving revenue, and a leadership style that inspires excellence and innovation. This role oversees the golf shop’s operations while also contributing to the overall member experience, brand alignment, and long-term growth strategy of the Club.
Key Responsibilities:
Strategic Retail Leadership Develop and execute a comprehensive retail business plan aligned with the Club’s vision, member demographics, and seasonal trends. Collaborate with Club leadership to integrate retail goals with broader operational objectives, including golf operations, events, and member services. Conduct competitive analysis to position the Club’s retail offerings as a market leader in quality, value, and experience. Merchandising and Brand Management Curate a high-quality product mix that reflects current fashion, performance trends, and member preferences across apparel, accessories, and equipment. Lead the visual merchandising strategy to enhance in-store presentation and elevate the shopping experience. Protect and promote the Club’s brand through thoughtful vendor partnerships and consistent retail standards. Revenue Growth and Marketing Design and implement dynamic sales strategies, marketing campaigns, seasonal promotions, and exclusive product launches. Leverage member data and analytics to tailor offerings and drive personalized shopping experiences. Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) to optimize profitability and make data-informed decisions. Team Development and Leadership Lead, coach, and develop a high-performing retail team, setting clear goals and cultivating a culture of service excellence, accountability, and growth. Establish training programs and performance review protocols to ensure continued staff development and retention. Serve as a mentor and role model for team members, promoting a positive and professional working environment. Financial Oversight and Reporting Develop and manage the retail budget, ensuring fiscal responsibility while pursuing growth opportunities. Track sales performance, inventory turnover, and profitability metrics; provide regular reports and recommendations to senior management. Oversee all purchasing, markdown planning, and inventory control to ensure optimal product flow and minimal loss. Technology and Operations Ensure effective use of POS systems, inventory software, and customer databases to streamline operations and enhance reporting accuracy. Drive operational efficiency through process improvement initiatives, technology upgrades, and system training. Stay current on retail tech innovations to enhance the member shopping experience both in-store and digitally. Vendor and Industry Relations Establish and maintain strong partnerships with premier golf and lifestyle brands to secure exclusive offerings and favorable terms. Qualifications:
Experience:
Minimum of 7-10 years of progressive retail leadership experience, with at least 3 years in a senior or director-level role in the golf or luxury lifestyle industry.
Education:
Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, Retail Management, or related field required; advanced degree preferred.
