Casual environment, set schedule, work alone, paid week’s vacation at one year, accident/disability insurance through Allstate, and a great employee discount. Starting pay is $15 per hour. For the first position, which starts immediately, we need someone to work every other Friday day and every other Saturday day (one shift a week 10am-4pm). This would become every Friday AND Saturday come mid August. For the second position, we need someone to work Monday-Wednesday day shifts (10-4 on Mon and Wed, and 10-2 on Tuesday). Training on this position would start right after the weekend employee has been trained and the shifts themselves will open up come mid August.

• Qualifications
• Adult store experience is not necessary.

We need someone who is reliable, drama free, good with customers, who is ok with cats and ideally not allergic(because we have a shop cat, lol), and someone trustworthy as this is a small business and we’ll need to hand the keys over to them after training. And they have to be able and willing to clean and dust and such as it’s important to keep the shop clean. Having a record will be taken on a case by case basis, but does not disqualify you.

• Responsibilities
• Assisting the customers. Cleaning the store. Caring for Mama J (our shop cat). Cash Handling. And just generally whatever is necessary to run the shop.

• t so we’re not rude or abusive and we care about our tiny staff.

I try to keep some snacks and drinks on hand for everyone too. You work alone so nobody is breathing down your neck. And while we deeply care that our customers are well cared for, we (unlike classic retail) don’t tolerate truly abusive customers. If nobody is in the shop and everything is clean, we don’t care if you read a book or scroll on your phone. You get the occasional free adult toy too which is pretty sweet as well.

• The hard parts
• You work alone, so there’s no set breaks.

You use the restroom, eat, and do everything else around customers coming in. 34th street is wily, and sometimes you get weirdos.. You have to be willing to be assertive and stand up for yourself and the shop. You have to look out for shoplifters, as they’re an issue (but not a massive one). We’re a truly small business, so there’s not many coworkers to fill in shifts. You really do have to be reliable because it’s not as simple as calling off of work when there’s only a couple other people.
