Gia-Pacific has an exciting opportunity as a talented Performance Leader to support the Angel Soft converting team at our Palatka, FL Paper Manufacturing operation.
Key Responsibilities:
Responsible for the positive technical and behavioral development of the master technicians and technicians. The Performance Leader will serve as a resource to manufacturing engineers and mentor to master technicians and technicians working on within their department. This role will have 2 direct reports.
Our Team
Gia Pacific’s Palatka Mill is located just south of Jacksonville and west of St. Augustine, FL, the Palatka mill employs about 950 people has six paper machines as well as several converting lines and produces consumer tissue products such as bath tissue and paper towels sold under the Gia-Pacific brand names of Angel Soft®, Quilted Northern®, Brawny®, and Sparkle®.
What You Will Do
Effectively lead, mentor, supervise, coach, and develop hourly associates within the assigned department utilizing the PBM Guiding Principles and Operational Excellence tools to improve capability and performance.
Lead and foster an environment that develops principled business owners in an Ownership-Based Work System who can identify learning/development solutions and optimize equipment.
Lead development and implementation of Performance, Skills, and Qualifications capability.
Address performance gaps for Master Techs and Technicians and measure performance across the work platform.
Handle administrative functions to include payroll, timekeeping, attendance, and other required functions.
Ensure that individual roles, responsibilities, and expectations (RR&Es) are aligned with mill andanizational goals to assure maximizing real long-term value for thepany.
Regularly execute Leader Standard Work to inspect what is expected of the team.
Hold team and individuals accountable for operating strategies and results.
Develop processes and systems which promote the transferring of knowledge to all team members.
Collaborate with manufacturing engineers and other salaried leaders within the department to assure master tech/technician performance gaps are identified and addressed.
Lead, coach, and mentor shift capability leaders by clearly setting expectations around capability building and shift performance. Identify skill gaps, recognize development opportunities, and implement individualized training plans to strengthen on-shift capability and ensure a structured, high-performing team.
Who You Are (Basic Qualifications)
Bachelor’s degree or higher, OR five (5) years of paper manufacturing experience, OR ten (10) or more years of experience leading groups in a fast-paced environment. Experience working in a continuous manufacturing environment.
Ability to successful carry out self-leadership, people leadership, result leadership and thought leadership in your daily routine.
Two (2) or more years of experience leading and holding others accountable in a working environment and to assess, support and improve performance gaps against individual skill capabilities. What Will Put You Ahead
Ten (10) or more years of manufacturing experience. Two (2) or more years of supervisory experience with responsibility for direct reports in an industrial environment.
