Intake/Donation Sorter – Thrift Store Society of St. Vincent de Paul SA Saint Augustine, FL 32084 Job Overview This position is responsible for overseeing our outdoor intake area, as well as receiving, distributing, and processing daily donations at our intake area. Must be fast paced, friendly, and able to multi-task as well as make decisions independently. Must be customer service oriented as they are often the first and only face our customers see. Objectives of This Role Ensure the intake area is running smoothly, customers are happy, and the workspace is generally clutter free. Works as part of a team to ensure donations are processed quickly, and what we receive for the day is processed and placed on the showroom floor. Maintains a safe and healthy work environment by following standards and procedures set forth by management and SVDP regulations. Duties Sets up the donation/receiving area with carts with department labels for customers to place their donations inside. Cheerfully assists customers with receiving donations at our outdoor receiving area, which is exposed to the elements of heat, rain, etc. Assists donors and provides them with a receipt. Works as our gatekeeper when outside, ensuring customers are not entering or exiting our store through the back gate which is only used for furniture pick-ups and drop-offs. Distributes donations to departments as needed throughout the day. Creates price labels for pricing items. Cleans and prices donations in the Home goods department which includes the following: Kitchenware, Glassware, Home Décor, Pet Supplies, Stationary/Office Supplies, Beauty items, Sporting Goods, Outdoor/Garden, Tools, Medical Supplies, Small Appliances, as well as all items that do not belong to a specific department. Tests ALL small appliances such as coffee makers, vacuums, etc. to ensure they are in working order before cleaning and pricing. On occasion, they are required to lookup an item’s value so that we may sell the item for reasonable value. Once items are cleaned and priced, they are responsible for running the items to the sales floor and outdoor area. Organizes and cleans their display areas throughout the store and outdoor area. Responds to calls from the cashier for price checks throughout the day. Responsible for having the outdoor donations/receiving area shut down and cleared by 4pm, or as instructed by management, to clean and shutdown their inside areas. Cleans the floors throughout the store in assigned areas. As well as cleaning the indoor receiving area’s floors and countertops. Shuts down area and fans used throughout the day. Qualifications High school diploma, GED, or work-related experience. Must possess a valid Florida driver’s license. Must be able to lift to 50 lbs.
