Job Description

Retail Store Associates – Full Time Cap’n Lu’s 701 East 3rd Avenue, New Smyrna Beach, FL 32169 Retail Store Sales Representative At Cap’n Lu’s, we are looking for ambitious and energetic candidates with strong communication skills to make customers feel welcome in our store. Our Retail Sales Representative will provide excellent customer service and meet sales quotas by identifying customer pet needs utilizing strong questioning skills, answer questions about our pet products and services, and recommend solutions. A positive attitude and a desire to promptly resolve potential customer issues or complaints will make you successful in this role. This rewarding opportunity will require 30-35 work hours per week (including Saturdays) where you will be standing/walking most of the time, lift up to 50 pounds regularly, un-box and verify products, cleaning, and assembling and/or moving displays and merchandise within the store. To be successful, you should be able to work with others and build rapport with clients. We also expect you to be detail- and goal-oriented, energetic and have strong problem-solving skills.   • Utilize strong questioning skills to greet and direct customers and their pets (when applicable)
  • Accurately answer customers’ questions about specific products
  • Inform customers about discounts and special offers
  • Cross-sell products to achieve products per sale goals
  • Accurately operate the check-out register, balancing cash and register receipts
  • Ensure merchandise shelves and displays are fully stocked
  • Unpack, verify and stock new merchandise after truck delivery
  • Adhere to and complete daily store cleaning schedule
  • Take fun photos and videos of pets in the store and post on the business’ social media
  • Coordinate with the team to provide excellent customer service (especially during peak times)
  • Provide customer feedback to the Store Operations Manager
  • Learn and stay up-to-date with all products/services
  • Actively participate in store events (onsite and offsite) Requirements and skills
  • Proven work experience as a Retail Sales Representative, Sales Associate, Customer Service Rep, or similar role
  • Proven work experience in sales and customer service roles; track record of achieving sales goals
  • Excellent communication skills, capable of building trusting relationships
  • Standing and walking all day including unloading boxes, cleaning the store, arranging merchandise, etc.
  • Must be able to lift 50 pounds and stand on feet most of the time
  • Ability to perform in fast-paced environment
  • Must be able to work Wednesdays and most Saturdays with occasional evenings and holidays
  • Highly motivated and target driven with a proven track record in sales
  • Self-starter and ability to complete tasks on time and with accuracy
  • Excellent selling and communication skills
  • Prioritizing, time management, multi-tasking abilities, and organizational skills
  • Problem-solving attitude with a willingness to learn
  • Teamwork and aptitude for fostering positive relationships
  • Customer-oriented mindset – not afraid to talk with anyone
  • Proficient in English (oral and written); bi-lingual a plus
