Path & Scanning Attendee Historic Hudson Valley – 3.4 Pocantico Hills, NY Job Details Part-time $20 an hour 13 hours ago Qualifications Entry level Full Job Description Historic Hudson Valley (HHV) is a Westchester-based cultural non-profit that welcomes visitors to five National Historic Landmarks and presents public tours, school programs, and seasonal festivals for audiences that include suburban families seeking weekend leisure activities; K-12 teachers meeting curricular objectives and their students; and a diverse array of heritage tourists. HHV has a national reputation for groundbreaking on-site interpretation and award-winning digital content, particularly in the content areas of Northern slavery, regional women’s history, and storytelling.
Primary Responsibility:
Path monitors will provide a welcoming atmosphere, ensure the safety of guests, and monitor an assigned area of the event path. Path monitors will provide an approachable presence to guests who may have questions and work to ensure that all visitors enjoy an exemplary experience through polite professional interactions. Scanning monitors will provide a welcoming atmosphere, ensuring visitor tickets are scanned efficiently. Scanning monitors will escalate any ticketing issues to the on-site manager to quickly resolve issues. Scanning monitors will provide an approachable presence to guests who may have questions and work to ensure that all visitors enjoy an exemplary experience through polite professional interactions. Both Path and Scanning monitors are expected to sign-in, collect the materials (flashlight, walkie talkie, event vest) prior to beginning their assignments, and be present for pre-shift meeting. Staff are also expected to follow all emergency procedures described during pre-shift meetings.
Principal Duties:
Path Monitor:
Monitor assigned path area for any issues that may arise especially pertaining to visitor experience or site conditions. Provide a welcoming and interactive experience for visitors. Guide visitors through their assigned path Help answer questions visitors may have about the site or the art display Use assigned communication device (walkie talkie) to report any concerns to the path manager including those relating to any guest experience or site safety. This will include any matters for escalation or resolution Ensure guests follow safety protocols such as staying on the path.
Scanning Monitor:
Provide a welcoming and interactive experience for guests as they enter the site or event Scan visitor tickets to allow them entry into the site/ event Be comfortable scanning paper as well as e-tickets on electronic devices like phones Troubleshoot issues relating to tickets, such as asking visitors to increase the brightness on their phones or retrieving tickets from their emails Escalate any ticketing issues to the scanning manager Be comfortable using the ticket scanning devices provided Direct visitors on where and how to enter the site/ event Historic Hudson Valley values representation and is committed to a workforce that exemplifies acceptance across race, gender, age, ability, religion, and identity.
