Department Lead J&P Park Acquisitions, Inc. (JPPA) 3507 Cokesbury Road, Hodges, SC 29653
Summary:
This position is responsible for ensuring and improving the performance, productivity, efficiency, and profitability of operations through the provision of effective methods and strategies. Our ideal candidate has a willingness to learn the entire scope of our operations for a broader understanding of how the departments fit together through cross training and collaboration.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Core duties and responsibilities include the following; other duties may be assigned:
- Manage processes and associates within their department(s) by directing work activity to meet productivity goals and quality standards
- Communicate with appropriate personnel to direct analysis and improvement of operations for efficiency and safety
- Providing department associates with clear feedback and instructions
- Maintain a high level of visibility with staff. Use hands-on approach to communicate daily and involve staff/ associates in problem solving; act as role model throughout company – lead by example
- Monitor adherence to rules, regulations and procedures and maintain an orderly, clean work environment
- Be willing to participate in operations and provide assistance where needed
- Proactively identify and resolve potential issues; communicate and escalate as appropriate
- Coordinate cross-training opportunities to develop staff
- Maintain working knowledge of all ERP systems and reports
- Adhere to mandatory OT hours during our busy season, which generally runs Thanksgiving to Christmas. As much notice as possible will be given prior to these OT hours.
- Other duties, reporting, and analysis as assigned

Maintains concentration on the task at hand, while keeping daily, weekly, and monthly goals in mind. Strives to be self-reliant and self-motivated, while encouraging others to do the same. Knows when to ask for clarification and when to find solutions and resolve problems independently.
Machinery:
Works efficiently with and operates a variety of equipment, such as scales, milling machines, pallet-jacks, forklifts, and packaging machines. Interprets instructions and follows safety procedures for specific machinery in each workspace. Informs others when equipment is damaged, unsafe, or not working properly.
Safety Representative:
Interprets safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Reports and corrects safety concerns and brings them to the attention of the Safety Committee. Provides proper safety documentation to employees and assists in completing documentation such as near miss forms, first report of injury, and incident reports.
Qualifications:
- 1-2 years of Lead experience or related experience or training
- High school diploma
- Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing
- Ability to work effectively with a wide range of constituencies in a diverse community
- Skill in examining and re-engineering operations and procedures, formulating policy and developing and implementing new strategies and procedures
- Proven ability to handle multiple projects and meet deadlines
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office, with an emphasis on Excel and Word and ability to understand/use Google docs and Google sheets
- Understanding of home brew and wine making products a plus

This position involves a lot of standing and moving around the warehouse and can be physically demanding. This position requires a broad range of demands including the ability to frequently lift and move 50-55 pounds bags of grain.
