ReStore Associate Habitat for Humanity of York County Lake Wylie, SC 29710 Habitat for Humanity of York County ReStore seeks a part-time ReStore Associate responsible for providing quality customer and donor service.
Key responsibilities include:
receiving and processing donations in the warehouse intake area, merchandising inventory throughout the sales floor, welcoming and assisting customers, operating the cash register and assisting with general ReStore operations. Job will require lifting furniture and moving furniture (up to 75lbs). Work Schedule is Tuesday – Saturday, 9AM-5PM. Ability to work at the Lake Wylie or Rock Hill ReStore required. POSITION SUMMARY
The ReStore Associate performs general operation functions of the ReStore including customer, volunteer and donor assistance, inventory merchandising, cash register operation, general cleaning/upkeep and other tasks as assigned by management for the efficient operation of the ReStore.
PRINCIPLE ACCOUNTABILITIES
- Maintain a safe, clean and organized store in compliance with ReStore policies/procedures.
- Provide a positive, quality experience for customers, donors and volunteers.
- Understanding and commitment to the mission of HFHYC and the mission supporting role of the ReStore.
RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES
Operational Demonstrate outstanding service with customers, donors, volunteer, partner families and staff team members. General store operations and volunteer utilization in coordination with ReStore Manager, ReStore Assistant Manager and ReStore Associates including: a. Opening and closing of the ReStore for scheduled daily hours. b. Handling efficiently incoming donations – screening, receiving, sorting, cleaning, repairing, recycling and discarding – in compliance with ReStore policies and procedures. c. Load/unload all materials and deliver to appropriate area of ReStore. d. Displaying and organizing of showroom sales areas to ensure all items are properly priced and ticketed for sale in a manner appealing to customers. e. Ensuring sorting and receiving areas stay clean, organized and free from hazards. f. Maintaining a clean shopping environment to include all aspects of the ReStore, this includes sweeping, mopping, cleaning of restrooms, emptying trash, cleaning parking lot areas of litter and debris g. Operating the cash register and effectively checking out customers in a fast, efficient and accurate manner. h. Utilizing online donation system to accurately key in donor information and provide donation receipts upon request. i. Completing daily/weekly task assignments and records. Understand and effectively communicate the Habitat ReStore, local affiliate and HFH missions to members of the public. Effectively handle ReStore assets to ensure safety of employees, volunteers, customers, and donors. Reporting, Communications and Other Responsibilities Information, work and safety practices are reinforced with Associates and others who will be in the facility and property. Keep ReStore Management informed appropriately and timely of operational, safety and financial matters.
- Other duties as assigned by the ReStore Management.
KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS REQUIRED
Knowledgeable of and committed to the mission of Habitat for Humanity of York County. Able to work with a diverse spectrum of people from a variety of faith, civic, business, ethnic and socio-economic backgrounds. Ability to handle and defuse challenging situations with tact. Excellent communication and conflict resolution skills. Ability to effectively communicate in a professional manner with vendors, staff, board members, families, and anyone associated with the ReStore and Habitat for Humanity of York County. Able to manage confidential information with discretion and tact required.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS, WORK ENVIRONMENT & TIME COMMITMENT
- Valid driver’s license with reliable transportation.
- Ability to safely lift and position up to 100 pounds. Job could entail occasional bending, kneeling and reaching, often in awkward or tiring positions. Bulk of time will be spent standing, walking and otherwise assisting customers.
- Full-time position, Tuesday – Saturday, 9AM-5:00PM; Rock Hill or Lake Wylie ReStore required, occasional work outside normal business hours may be required.
Commitment to punctuality required.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
COMPENSATION
$15 per hour to start; Eligible for performance-based increase on an annual basis after your first year. Full-time employees are eligible for the following benefits:
