Full Job Description Summary:
The Store Supervisor is responsible for assisting the Store Manager and Assistant Manager in all aspects of store operations, including financial performance, personnel management, front-end cash register operations, floor and visual processes and procedures, loss prevention, and enforcing all company policies and procedures. The Supervisor is also responsible for additional tasks as assigned, but not limited to training others and assisting as needed to ensure that the store’s expectations are met. All Store Supervisors will be cross-trained in the four main areas of Processing, Cashiering, Sales Floor, and Visual Merchandising.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities :
Store Operation Effectively manage collections to ensure proper processing and separation of incoming donations. Ensure that the store maximizes used goods processing practices utilizing the Kaizen system, sorting, preparing, and pricing items for sale. Ensure that production goals are consistently met or exceeded. Ensure maximum sales performance through weekly merchandise rotation, meeting or exceeding established production goals. Open and close the store. Make bank deposits as required. Tally cash registers. Make regular cash register readings. Generate all store reports daily, weekly, and monthly. Maintain accurate and current records. Generate employee schedules. Ensures that stockroom production of textiles and hard goods meets established goals, minimizing waste from production processes. Fully train and cross-train all store personnel at all levels to ensure that all store functions are performed efficiently. Ensure that the store provides excellent customer service in a timely and courteous manner to all shoppers, donors, and staff members. Greet customers upon entering the store. Properly manage all store employees. Maintain a clean and orderly store processing area , ensuring good housekeeping and a positive work environment. Must demonstrate an understanding of the relationship between donations and sales production. Occasionally, cleaning duties must be performed in all store areas, including restrooms. All other duties as assigned. Financial Ensure effective and efficient store budget management, including achieving processing goals, generating revenue, and controlling expenses. Ensure that all store audits achieve a 90% passing score or greater Businesses need to understand what may cause sales to increase or decrease. Must take corrective actions to prevent and improve deficiencies and make appropriate recommendations. Loss Prevention Keep the stockroom clean and free from safety hazards. Ensure that all staff and store employees understand and follow the procedures. Observe suspicious activities and ensure all loss prevention matters are reported, investigated, and corrected promptly. Ensure the proper operation of store security and safety systems, including, but not limited to, door locks, alarms, store safes, office doors, and fire extinguishers. Ensure all bank deposits, refunds, and incident reports are completed accurately and promptly. Human Resources When necessary, the Supervisor will assist the Store Manager in recruiting, selecting, promoting, disciplining, or separating employees. Must document or make recommendations to report any personnel issues that could lead to further actions. Responsible for all the store operations in the Store Manager’s absence. Maintains an efficient and effective workforce through proper hiring, retention, training, and leadership. Maintains positive workforce morale. Ensure that store reports, personnel status changes, and rehabilitation information are communicated accurately and promptly. Effectively manages the store to ensure proper company policies and procedures. Ensures adequate utilization of Human Resources (HR) to maintain discipline correctly. Trains new staff as assigned and provides ongoing training to all employees to develop a standard of excellence. Education and Experience Minimum of one year of work experience in a lead/supervisory capacity with 3-10 team members, preferably in a retail ready-to-wear environment. Knowledgeable in profit and loss, sales, or cost management accountability. Must possess strong interpersonal skills in dealing with customers, donors, and employees. Must exhibit a high level of integrity and business ethics Excellent organization, communication, and interpersonal skills. Strong math skills. Proficient in the English language, both orally and in writing. Bilingual (English/Spanish) is a plus. Computer literate.
