Assistant Manager Thrift St Paul Beaches Conference 1249 Penman Rd, Jacksonville Beach, FL 32250 Job Overview The assistant store manager contributes to the mission of St. Vincent de Paul by assisting the store manager in overseeing the daily operations of the thrift store and by being the first line of employee and customer management and communication to ensure an efficient and productive staff and store profitability. Duties

  • Perform opening and closing procedures of the thrift store to ensure on-time opening and closing of the store and safety and security of store facilities.
  • Process daily deposits and accurately record daily sales data to ensure proper accounting.
  • Make daily bank runs to ensure deposits are processed and the safe has enough money to properly run cash registers; maintain cash register money as needed.
  • Daily cash register and tag machine maintenance including resolving any software or hardware issues through the proper channels.
  • Be the first-line individual for customer and employee management and communication with a positive, friendly, and respectful attitude.
  • Assist customers in receiving donations or in helping to load items in their car.
  • Retrieve donations from the drop off box and bring into the store sorting area.
  • Report to the store manager regarding customer and volunteer relations.
  • Check voicemails and emails daily and respond to any customer-related inquires; direct any other inquires to the appropriate individual.
  • Oversee merchandise sales in coordination with the store manager and department head including marketing sales and clarifying employee or customer questions.
  • Become versant in all departments of the store and be able to assist or train volunteers in the respective areas. Utilize cross-training methods to maintain productivity when employees are absent.
  • Leads volunteer staff in completing tasks and providing excellent customer service.
  • Document and address volunteer concerns, questions, or performance issues in coordination with the store manager; assist in conducting disciplinary actions as needed.
  • Communicate with volunteers regarding schedules and proper department coverage; daily scheduling of cashiers and donation receiving employees to maintain proper coverage during store hours.
  • Oversee all store facilities are kept clean and organized, delegating cleaning tasks to various departments on a weekly, monthly, annually, or as-needed basis.
  • Oversee effective department merchandising and pricing in coordination with the store manager.
  • Maintain volunteer recognition program(s) on a monthly basis including birthdays, anniversaries, outstanding performance, etc.
  • Support, follow and enforce St. Vincent de Paul policies and standards in coordination with the store manager.
  • Effectively conduct essential duties of the store manager in their absence.
  • Uphold the mission and values of St. Vincent de Paul.
  • Any other duties as assigned by the store manager.

Experience Proven experience in retail management or a similar role is preferred. Strong skills in inventory management, math, and cash handling are essential. Experience with recruiting and training development is highly desirable. Familiarity with POS software, preferably ThriftWorks. Excellent communication skills with the ability to lead and motivate a team effectively.
