General Manager The successful candidate will be someone who enjoys a fast-paced environment with ever-changing challenges. The building materials supply industry is one in which time is money. Leading a team that is efficient, accurate, and dedicated to being productive is key. Being able to build relationships with customers and coworkers is a trait the ideal candidate must possess. Success will come easily to someone who is willing to roll up their sleeves and jump in wherever/whenever needed.
Purpose of Position:
Accountable for the overall store’s operation and performance in a manner consistent with the company’s standards and directives from the Vice President and President. Provide leadership that drives employee engagement and allows employees to perform at their best.
Essential Functions:

- Carry out supervisory responsibilities: interviewing and hiring associates; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining associates; and addressing complaints and resolving problems
- Enforce company policy and procedures, including paperwork on sales transactions, refunds, and credit memos
- Manage inventory of merchandise at facility
- Maintain operating income through effective management and generation of sales
- Schedule associate work hours to meet the budget and business demands
- Control all operational expenses of the store within the set budget
- Review monthly reports with employees for information and training
- Complete and forward monthly business plan and manager checklist to the EVP weekly
- Verify that all equipment is checked daily and that all inspection forms are filled out completely and accurately; ensure that proper maintenance is performed and documentation is forwarded to the home office
- Review store operations daily to reduce inventory shrinkage
- Train and monitor store salespersons to ensure a business-like appearance and good impression to customers
- Regularly accompany salespersons on customer visits to assist and monitor sales activities in local area
- Keep all sales personnel informed of upcoming sales promotions, clearance items, and inventory reduction plans
- Recommend merchandising and sales promotion programs to the Vice President
- Evaluate and check competition with recommendations for pricing and merchandise assortment
- Recommend products to be carried, discontinued, or experimented
- Maintain and improve the store constantly
- Attend and participate in all company sponsored training programs as required
- Follow the company’s safety policies as outlined in the company safety program
- Perform any other task or duty assigned by the Vice President or Company President Education and Education
- High School Diploma or General Equivalency Degree (GED)
- One year of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
- One year experience operating in retail sales or the construction industry.
