Location Various Full/Part Time Full-Time Exempt from Classified Service No Minimum Rate 55202.10 Min Pay Frequency Yearly Maximum Rate 99564.87 Max Pay Frequency Yearly Regular/Temporary Regular Minimum Qualifications Currently employed by Miami-Dade County as a DTPW Train Operator (8073) in permanent full time status (AA) for a minimum of three (3) consecutive years on or before the examination date.

Train Operators must have achieved an overall rating satisfactory or above for the last evaluation period. Train Operators with a disciplinary record above a record of counseling within the last three (3) years will be disqualified. Work may be performed on unusual work shifts to include nights, weekends, and holidays. In emergency situations, employees are required to work 12 – 16 hour shifts. Employees are required to work during emergency situations such as hurricanes, storms and any other declared emergency situation. The DTPW classification of Rail Supervisor performs safety-sensitive functions and is subject to the provisions of the Federal Transit Administration (FTA) Drug and Alcohol Regulations. Proof of education and/or work experience to meet minimum qualifications must be presented and will be verified. Tests Required The written examination will evaluate knowledge of the Department of Transportation and Public Works (DTPW) rules, regulations, procedures, safety, supervisory practices and report writing. Copies of the Reading List and study materials are available via email OR at the second floor of the Lehman Center from Kanesha Johnson Gipson, Clifford Givens or Veronica James during the hours of 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. from Friday, June 13, 2025 until Friday, September 5, 2025. Seniority points will be added to the score of employees qualifying on the competitive examination at the rate of 0.02308 per pay period of continuous, satisfactory, full-time service in the class indicated on this announcement to a maximum credit of ten years of service or six points. Only those individuals deemed ineligible to take the examination will be notified in writing by Miami-Dade County, DTPW Human Resources.

Recruitment Notes This position supervises Train Operators engaged in operations and use of rail facilities including Guideway, station platforms and structures and equipment. Duties include monitoring the mainline rail operations, operation of vehicles, investigating passenger concerns, and investigating rail vehicle accidents and providing supervision of rail structures. The position reviews and corrects problems related to safe and efficient operations on the mainline and Station platforms.
