The Assistant Store Manager will support the Store Manager in the management and coordination of all store functions. They will be responsible for managing and effectively delegating tasks to associates to ensure operational, merchandising and customer service tasks are completed in an effective and timely manner. The Assistant Store Manager supervises, plans, directs and coordinates all store activities, including check-out areas, returns, special services, computer systems, and receiving, unloading, distributing, and stocking merchandise. Major Responsibilities Work closely with the Store Manager to determine and prioritize merchandising, operational and other activities to be completed to maintain organization and operations. Provide excellent customer service following a prescribed method. Resolve customer complaints in a timely and effective manner. Enforce safety policies and procedures, is a safety role model. Provide direction and guidance to associates to ensure effective execution of operational programs. Effectively delegate tasks to associates to ensure productivity and efficiency. Drive sales through delegation and action. Gain and share knowledge regarding high-ticket items in the store to consistently sell these items. Use sales method to encourage additional customer purchases. Ensure the store is stocked, clean and ready for business every day. Operate checkout according to policies and procedures to maintain price unit integrity and expected service levels. Maintain accurate record keeping. Train current and new associates in basic store functions and implement training programs as needed. Ensure daily inventory management tasks are completed, including: stocking, zero outs, special orders, cycle counts. Implement merchandising programs to maintain an in-stock position, maintain price integrity, and maximize sales and profitability. Monitor basic and seasonal merchandise displays to maximize sales and profit; also review the stock room and bin areas daily, identifying slow selling, discontinued and overstocked merchandise. Review and audit daily, weekly and monthly reports on various topics to include scheduling, merchandising, register functions and any additional needs as assigned. Open and close the store when functioning as the manager on duty. Create empowerment for direct reports both individually and collectively; facilitate teamwork and cohesiveness. Communicate in an open manner; encourages open and honest communication from direct reports. Listen and respect differences in opinions.
Minimum Requirements:
The minimum requirements for this position include: Possess a vast product knowledge of hardware related products along with a willingness to learn Minimum 2 years retail management experience Strong leadership and analytical skills Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to communicate clearly and effectively in all situations Strong problem-solving and organizational skills Ability to lead and develop others Ability to handle multiple projects and tasks with a high attention to detail Knowledge of retail computer systems, MS Word and Excel a plus. Ability and willingness to work flexible hours including evenings, weekends and holidays to meet the needs of the business Physical Requirements The minimum physical requirements for this position include: Ability to stand for an extended period of time Move and handle boxes of merchandise and fixtures throughout the store up to 50lbs, and perform all functions as set forth, which entails lifting, bending, twisting Job responsibilities may change based on the needs of the business.
