Job Title Department Manager Position Overview Shaw Industries is looking for a Department Manager to lead a manufacturing department within a carpet tile manufacturing plant in Cartersville, GA. The Tufting and Warping Department manager works to coordinate and direct the efforts of all manpower, materials, and equipment within the department to safely produce the highest quality carpet at the lowest possible cost.
Responsibilities:
Manage department in terms of Safety, Quality, Productivity, Customer Relations, & Cost performance. Lead and develop a team consisting of team managers and a process engineer. Indirectly help to manage 250 department employees. Hold regular developmental meetings with Direct Reports and ensure individual development plans are in place for each. Establish goals for the department and implement & champion projects as necessary to ensure performance aligns with goals. Think and act strategically to find ways for improving department productivity. In conjunction with Human Resources, manage the hiring, discipline and termination processes for the department and addressing employee issues. Work with Team Mangers to ensure proper labor and machine utilization in order to efficiently service the business. Ensure associate and management level issues are handled in a timely manner and ensure resolution is communicated to all parties involved. Drive employee engagement within the department through Monthly Round Table Meetings, the “Bright Idea” System & Team Accountability Meetings. Understand and Support all SAFE, SMS, TPM, Lean Six Sigma & Environmental Efforts within the department. Develop and implement plans to improve these areas where performance is under goal. Be an active member of Plant Quality Improvement Team & Safety Leadership Organization committees.

Bachelor’s Degree Required Previous leadership/management experience required 5+ years of experience in a tufting management role preferred Ability to organize, manage, and challenge a production team to exceed expectations. Ability to foster innovation, focus on customer needs, and demonstrate high integrity.
