Job Description

Thrift Store Manager 4.3 4.3 out of 5 stars Sandy Springs, GA 30350 The Thrift Store Manager manages all store operations and provides leadership and direction to the thrift store operations lead and all thrift store volunteers, aligning resources to deliver an exceptional shopping experience and meet or exceed sales goals. This position is responsible for procuring donations and ensuring pricing of donated items is competitive in the market as well as marketing the store and expanding the customer base.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE BUT NOT LIMITED TO

Strategic Planning Provides vital input in short and long-term strategic and operational planning and positioning within the organization

  • Develops strategies to drive incremental sales
  • Ensures that thrift operations are carried out in keeping with the organization’s values, mission, vision and plans Participates with the CEO, staff and board in charting the role and impact the thrift store has in the overall organization Evaluates the effect of internal and external forces on the thrift store, recommends short and long-range thrift store plans and programs that support the organization’s values, mission and general objectives Recommends policy positions concerning the thrift store Helps establish performance measures, monitors results and helps the Director of Programs evaluate the effectiveness of the organization’s thrift program Thrift Operations • Plans and maximizes floor presentation and square footage productivity utilizing effective visual merchandising techniques • Maintains and monitors store inventory • Ensures that the store is clean, safe and presentable for customers • Greets and assists customers as necessary • Processes sales when necessary • Opens and/or closes cash register • Approves and coordinates furniture pick-ups • Supervises EBay sales • Manages monthly volunteer schedule • Works with Volunteer Manager to accommodate corporate and civic volunteer groups Ensures establishment of and compliance with the organization’s own thrift store and philanthropic principles, policies and procedures Assures stability by creating a working environment that is rewarding to staff and volunteers Appropriately represents the institution, its board and CEO to customers, donors and volunteers Fosters a smoothly operating retail environment through timely and effective resolution of disruptions Designs and assures implementation of cost-effective thrift store promotions, employing economy while maintaining an acceptable level of quality and solid return on investment Assures proper planning including goal setting, strategy identification, benchmarking and evaluation to support thrift store growth Assures sound fiscal operation of the thrift store including timely, accurate and comprehensive development of thrift store income and expense budgets, reporting, monitoring and implementation Combines thrift store resources in such a way as to maximize quantity and quality to obtain a set of results.

Assures appropriate market testing to reduce risk and assure success Manages annual thrift store inventory count Helps CAC community identify, cultivate and solicit needed thrift store donations Ensures compliance with all relevant regulations and laws, maintains accountability standards to donors and ensures compliance with code of ethical principles and standards of professional conduct Human Resource Development Leads and coaches Thrift Store Operations Lead and all volunteers Helps identify, cultivate, recruit, and develop thrift store volunteers and leadership Trains, places, coordinates and supervises thrift store volunteers Reporting & Communications Informs the Director of Programs and volunteer leadership on the condition of the organization’s thrift store program and on all important factors influencing it Reviews with Director of Programs end of month financial reports Participates in staff meetings Ensures thrift pages/stories on CAC website are accurate and up-to-date Promotes thrift activities and sales through social media
