  • Thisjob assumes responsibility for patient plans of care; provides andmanages care to individuals and cohorts of patients within a unit;designs, implements and evaluates nursing interventions bycoordinating, delegating and supervising the care provided by thehealthcare team, including licensed nurses, patient caretechnicians and other health professionals; and facilitateseffective and efficient discharge planning.

Provides a significantcommunication link between Unit Director, staff, patients,physicians and others; serves as a resource to staff for patientcare assessment and in the planning and evaluation of nursinginterventions; facilitates problem resolution and collaborates withthe Unit Director and other supervisory staff in assessing thequality of care provided, identifying staff strengths andweaknesses and evaluating the staff performance; serves as aliaison between staff and Clinical Nurse Specialists and othernursing resources; assumes responsibility for the cost effectiveand efficient use of human, environmental and material resources.

Therisk level of exposure may increase depending on the essential jobduties of the role.
