General Summary:
The Retail Manager will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of our retail operations, ensuring exceptional customer service, driving sales, and maintaining compliance with cannabis regulations. The Retail Manager will play a pivotal role in creating a positive and educational environment for customers while maximizing revenue and delivering a top-notch cannabis retail experience.
Responsibilities:
1.
Store Operations Management:
- Oversee the day-to-day operations of the cannabis dispensary, including opening and closing procedures, cash management, and security protocols.
- Ensure compliance with all applicable cannabis regulations and maintain accurate records to meet legal requirements.
- Monitor inventory levels and collaborate with the inventory team to ensure adequate stock availability.

Sales Performance and Customer Service:
- Set sales targets and develop strategies to achieve and exceed sales goals.
- Foster a customer-centric culture and ensure exceptional customer service is provided to all patrons.
- Train and motivate the sales team to provide in-depth product knowledge, recommendations, and personalized customer experiences.

Compliance and Regulatory Requirements:
- Stay up to date with local and state cannabis regulations, ensuring compliance in all retail operations.
- Work with the Compliance Manager to ensure all retail staff are properly trained on regulatory guidelines and ensure adherence to all legal requirements, including age verification and record-keeping.

Staff Supervision and Training:
- Recruit, train, and supervise retail staff, including budtenders and sales associates.
- Ensure the staff schedule is completed in a strategic manner, utilizing sales data to ensure the floor is sufficiently staffed while still being cost effective.
- Provide ongoing coaching, guidance, and performance feedback to maximize staff productivity and customer satisfaction.
- Conduct regular performance evaluations and implement training and development plans as needed.
5.
Product Procurement Management and Merchandising:
- Collaborate with Inventory, Wholesale and Procurement to ensure there’s a diverse and high-quality product selection that meets customer demands.
- Ensure proper merchandising and display techniques are utilized to showcase products effectively.
- Monitor product performance, sales trends, and customer preferences to make informed inventory decisions.
6.
Marketing and Promotions:
- Collaborate with the marketing team to develop and execute marketing campaigns and promotional activities to drive foot traffic and increase sales.
- Utilize various channels, including social media and email marketing, to engage with customers and promote special offers or events.
7.
Security and Loss Prevention:
- Implement and maintain security protocols to safeguard the dispensary and prevent theft or unauthorized access to cannabis products.
- Collaborate with security personnel to ensure compliance with security requirements and monitor potential risks.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in business administration, Marketing, or a related field (preferred).
- Proven experience of at least 4 years in retail management, preferably in the cannabis industry or a highly regulated environment.
- Strong knowledge of cannabis products, strains, consumption methods, and industry trends.
- Understanding of local and state cannabis regulations and compliance requirements.
- Excellent sales and customer service skills, with a passion for delivering exceptional customer experiences.
- Strong leadership and team management abilities, with a focus on fostering a positive and collaborative work environment.
- Proficient in using point-of-sale (POS) systems, inventory management software, and Microsoft Office (i.e. Outlook, Excel & OneDrive/SharePoint)
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to interact effectively with customers, staff, and stakeholders.
- Detail-oriented and highly organized with a focus on operational efficiency.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, as required in the cannabis retail industry.
- There will be an expectation to answer calls when not in the store & may go over 40 hours regularly.
