Overview Herzog Services, Inc. is currently seeking highly motivated and results-driven Production/Shop Manager in St. Joseph, MO to lead our production team and ensure the efficient, safe, and high-quality operation of our shop floor. The ideal candidate thrives in a fast-paced environment, demonstrates exceptional leadership, and has a strong track record of improving productivity, quality, on-time delivery of projects and facilitation of full team engagement and accountability daily.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• This is a non-exhaustive overview of the job duties for this position.
• Lead daily operations of the shop/production floor to meet or exceed quality, safety, and production targets.
• Direct, mentor, and motivate a team of supervisors, technicians, and shop personnel to achieve performance goals.
• Develop and implement production schedules, work procedures, and staffing plans to optimize output and efficiency.
• Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs), identify bottlenecks, and drive continuous improvement initiatives.
• Maintain a strong focus on workplace safety and ensure compliance with all regulatory and company policies.
• Collaborate with maintenance, quality assurance, procurement, and logistics teams to ensure smooth production workflows.
• Train and develop team members, fostering a culture of accountability, safety, and excellence.
• Manage shop resources effectively, including tools, equipment, materials, and labor.
• Conduct regular team meetings and communicate company goals, updates, and expectations.
• Regular and consistent engagement, participation and promotion of Herzog’s Culture and its essential behaviors are a requirement for this position.
• Regular and predictable attendance and punctuality are a requirement for this position.

Qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Technical degree or relevant certifications a plus.
• Proven experience (3+ years) in a production or shop management role in a manufacturing or industrial environment.
• Strong leadership and team-building skills with the ability to inspire high performance.
• Excellent problem-solving, organizational, and decision-making abilities.
• Solid understanding of Lean Manufacturing, 5S, and/or other continuous improvement methodologies.
• Working knowledge of OSHA and other safety regulations.
• Proficient in production planning software and MS Office Suite.
• Ability to thrive under pressure and meet tight deadlines with a solutions-first attitude.
• Experience in heavy equipment fabrication, automotive manufacturing/fabrication and repair is preferred but not mandatory.

• Maintain a valid driver’s license and endorsements as required per position.”
