Job Description
Overview The Emergency Department (ED) Registration Supervisor oversees the daily operations and service quality of the ED Registration area, ensuring efficient patient registration, insurance verification, and point-of-service collections. This role is responsible for maintaining appropriate staffing levels 24/7/365, including providing on-call support as needed. The supervisor fosters a culture of service excellence, professionalism, and responsiveness, ensuring high standards for both internal and external customers. Strong judgment and critical thinking skills are essential, as the role involves hiring, training, and managing ED Registration staff, conducting performance evaluations, and providing coaching and counseling. Collaboration with ED providers and clinical team members is key to optimizing workflows and enhancing patient experience. Responsibilities Manage daily operations of the Emergency Department (ED) Registration area, including patient registration, insurance verification, and point-of-service collections. Ensure adequate staffing for the ED Registration area 24/7/365, including providing on-call coverage as needed. Maintain service excellence, professionalism, and responsiveness for internal and external customers. Exercise sound judgment and critical thinking in operational decisions and problem-solving. Conduct interviews and hire ED Registration staff. Oversee employee orientation and training to ensure staff are well-prepared for their roles. Prepare and deliver performance evaluations, providing feedback and support for professional development. Coach and counsel employees to address challenges and foster growth. Collaborate with ED providers and clinical team members Qualifications High school diploma required; associate degree or higher in healthcare management, business, or a related field preferred. Minimum of two years’ experience in healthcare patient registration/revenue cycle operations required; experience in an ED or urgent care setting preferred. Prior supervisory experience in a similar role preferred.
