Director, Retail Strategy EdgeBrook Lane Consulting Raleigh, NC 27601 EdgeBrook Lane Consulting (EBL) is partnering with a local, Raleigh-based company in search of a seasoned Director, Retail Strategy. This is a leadership opportunity for a mission-driven, non-profit organization. This role will oversee multi-location retail operations within a high-traffic, guest-focused environment. Role Description This is a full-time on-site role for a Director, Retail Strategy, acting as the driving force behind multiple retail locations – coaching a team, optimizing operations, and making the guest experience as joyful and seamless as possible. Ideal candidate will bring strategy and heart in equal measure and must be someone who thrives in fast-paced environments, balances creativity with process, and sows up ready to lead by example. Must know how to build a floor layout and a culture of accountability, and be able to pivot with grace o the busiest of days. Responsibilities Lead, coach, and support a multi-site retail team—ensuring staffing, morale, and guest experience are consistently strong. Oversee day-to-day operations including Visual Merchandising, Supply Chain including Vendor Relationships, and Customer Service. Build clear, effective systems and SOPs across stores and staff levels. Develop and maintain scheduling systems that balance staff needs with visitor flow. Track sales performance, forecast, and optimize inventory turnover and product mix with the goal of long-term financial growth and revenue optimization. Collaborate with internal departments to align shared goals, special events, and promotions. Serve as a calm, thoughtful leader during high-volume days or operational challenges. Champion guest satisfaction while holding a high bar for service and professionalism. Analyze KPIs, forecast sales, and drive decisions around product mix, pricing, and margin protection. Qualifications 5+ years of retail leadership experience (multi-site, tourism, or cultural environments a plus). Strong background in merchandising, supply chain, and customer service. Proven ability to build, schedule, and retain high-performing teams.. Comfort with data, point-of-sales systems, and operational reporting. Collaborative nature and excellent communication across teams and levels. Ability to think strategically while remaining agile in day-to-day operations. A steady presence and high emotional intelligence during peak traffic and fast-paced shifts. A background in guest experience, hospitality, or marketing. Experience working in cultural institutions, specialty retail, or non-profit environments a plus. Familiarity with modern POS systems or retail scheduling tools.
