The State of New Hampshire, Department of Natural and Cultural Resources, Division of Parks and Recreation, has a full-time vacancy for an Assistant Park Supervisor, for Mount Washington State, Park, Sargent’s Purchase, NH 03589.
Summary:
Participates in the management of Mount Washington State Park, a state park of high complexity. Ensures exceptional customer service is provided to park visitors on the summit of Mount Washington. Performs supervision of employees and duties related to park visitor services.
Responsibilities:
Supervises the Visitor Services operations. Coordinates and oversees the daily tasks of subordinate employees to ensure an outstanding and safe visitor experience which includes support and assistance to guests, a friendly atmosphere, and a clean and organized public appearance.
Provides a positive work environment to support and motivate employees through regular communication, setting clear expectations, recognizing accomplishments, providing adequate training, assisting staff, and by establishing and maintaining communication and teamwork at the park and within the larger parks system.
Organizes and evaluates the Parks first aid facility, including maintaining inventory and ordering supplies. Ensures facility is clean and functional. Establishes and maintains safety policies. Monitors conditions of facilities, exterior park grounds, and buildings to ensure the safety of the public and park staff. Provides training on specific emergency procedures and overall emergency park protocols.
Responsible for the employee driver training program specific to the Mount Washington Auto Road and vehicle safety associated with traversing the auto road in various park vehicles.
Responds to incidents involving search and rescue requests, distress calls, incidents involving missing persons, and injured park patrons.
Provides operational support to the Park Supervisor, Retail Managers, and Maintenance Supervisor with various operational and administrative duties. Assists with and/or performs minor emergency repairs including plumbing, electrical, and building maintenance, to ensure uninterrupted and save function of all facilities, buildings and grounds.
Assists with the oversight of concessionaires and ensures all lessees, contractors, and tenants are in compliance with lease agreements. Inspects and monitors capital appropriation projects to ensure compliance with contracted scope of work. Monitors facilities to ensure they are maintained and managed to the highest standards of appearance, and function appropriately. Inspect parking lot, grounds, trails and out buildings regarding condition and appearance.
Maintains positive, productive operating relationships with all our partners, tenants, contractors, community organizations and volunteer and agency relationships while representing and supporting the park systems management priorities.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education:
Associate’s degree or 60 credit hours from an accredited institute of higher education. A additional year of approved formal education may be substituted for one year of required work experience, with the exception of the one year of required experience in park operations, outdoor recreation, retai
