FUNCTION

Oversees all Press Department equipment, manages Press Department staff and ensures all safety polices and procedures are followed. Performs tasks in all areas deemed necessary by the Plant Manager, as defined below.

HOURS:

Full time (40 hours per week) Monday-Friday 7am-3:30pm, occasional overtime.

JOB DUTIES

Manage, lead, coordinate and/or perform all manufacturing activities for the press, clamshell, clicker, sand blast & hot stamp departments following all procedures and policies. Plans daily production requirements using manufacturing order generated production reports and visual planning tools. Develops and plans daily personnel requirements. Updates and plans the Punch Press scheduling board in Scan n Tack system. Provides commitment dates to Production Control for past-due jobs. Communicates with Maintenance, Shipping, Production Control, Screen Print & Art department supervisors to share personnel resources in order to meet daily production requirements. Works closely with Maintenance department to prioritize machine repairs, die repairs and maintenance on Press Room equipment to maximize output, Quality and On Time Delivery. Maintains and organizes Die Repair storage. Identifies process improvements (continuous improvement) and communicates improvements with Plant Manager. Assists in production process as required. Participates in the Safety Committee, Safety Committee activities and performs safety training as required. Communicates material shortages and production delays immediately to Production Control supervisor. Verifies all documentation (manufacturing orders) is 100% complete by all employees within the Press department. Assesses training requirements for all departmental personnel and recommends improvements to Plant Manager. Identifies safety hazards within the Press Department. Participates in all production meetings as required by the Plant Manager. The Press Supervisor has the authority to direct departmental employees in the performance of their work and has the authority to discipline employees within company policy, up to and including termination. Is directly responsible for developing, implementing and ongoing management of the company’s tooling production process. Ensure each customer’s job is completed in accordance with the required specifications, on time, with quality workmanship and within budget. Leads all department employees by example. Defines production goals and holds all production employees accountable for production requirements, documentation and product quality. Ensures die repair forms are completed for every die upon completion of production. Coordinate and assist in all other duties deemed necessary by the Plant Manager. Ensure Press Department employees are fully trained in all areas necessary, including cross training as needed, so that the department is run safely and efficiently. Ensure all OSHA, federal and state safety laws, policies and procedures are adhered to and updated regularly/as needed. Suggest improvements to machinery, guarding, safety, etc. and present them to the Plant Manager. Champions all departmental interviews, hiring, terminations and conducts all Press Department employee performance evaluations on each of their direct report’s anniversary dates. Responsible for disciplining all Press Department staff, as per company policies and procedures. This position may require more than 40 hours per week, and Saturday’s based on workload. Be able to perform the physical aspects of the job, with or without reasonable accommodations, including but not limited to sitting, standing, walking, crouching, bending, reaching, twisting, computer work, fine manipulation, exposure to loud noises/oil/fumes, hot and cold climates inside and outside.

QUALIFICATIONS

5 to 10 years’ experience as a die setter. Must have a high mechanical aptitude. Must be capable of debugging progressive dies. Must have diverse experience with all stamping press room equipment, mechanical feeds, pneumatic feeds, OBI presses, Straight side presses material straighteners, take up reel assemblies, etc. 5 years minimum supervisory experience. Die making experience is a plus. Must have experience stamping aluminum and stainless steel. Must have strong math skills, Must have the ability to be a strong leader, motivate individuals to perform at their best and have strong communication skills. Must have a strong background in workplace safety, OSHA regulations and quality control. Must be able to effectively communicate with employees of varying education levels. Must have the ability to multitask. Must be capable of changing priorities at a moment’s notice to react to customer demands. Must be flexible and have the ability to prioritize and re-prioritize customer requirements as needed. Must have the ability to lift at least 40 pounds. Physical Requirements Half the time will be spent walking through the plant and sitting at a desk. Half the time will be spent making press set-ups as required to meet daily shipping goals. This position requires manual dexterity of the hands, and the normal bending and twisting associated with both stamping press department operations and desk operations. Mental Requirements Basic Math Skills, in depth understanding of bills of material and routings, must be able to read blueprints, as well as reading, writing and the ability to communicate clearly and effectively in English.
