Job Description

The Store Manager for our Design Store, located in Midtown at 53rd Street, will lead the store’s operations, ensuring an engaging and memorable customer experience. This role requires a dynamic leader who can inspire the team, drive sales, manage day-to-day operations, key vendor relationships, and uphold the brand’s values and culture as well as proactively connect to the Museum to support a holistic visitor experience. The role leads the Assistant store managers in all aspects of running the store including but not limited to: visual merchandising, recruiting, training, and developing a high-performing store team; ensuring the proper safeguarding of MoMA’s staff, visitors, and assets; attending and contributing to Retail management meetings; and, participating in store partnership initiatives.

Responsibilities:

Create an exceptional customer experience, aligning with the brand’s vision and by fostering a welcoming and customer-focused environment. Implement innovative strategies to engage customers, including in-store events, workshops, and interactive displays. Partner with the marketing team to plan and execute in-store promotions and events. Collaborate with the buying team to ensure the store assortment includes relevant and in-demand products. Address and resolve customer inquiries, feedback, and complaints in a professional and timely manner. Lead, coach, and develop a team of store associates, selling specialists and assistant managers. Conduct regular team meetings and training sessions. Develop a training plan focussed on enhancing product knowledge, story telling, and customer engagement skills. Set performance goals and facilitate performance reviews for staff, providing constructive feedback, recognition, and development opportunities. Coordinate with the visual merchandising and creative teams to maintain an attractive and dynamic store layout. Stay informed about the latest technology trends and products. Ensure all technology products and displays are functioning correctly and provide training to staff on their use. Collaborate with the tech team to integrate new products and innovations into the store. Monitor and analyze sales performance, identifying opportunities for growth and improvement. Manage the store budget, including payroll, inventory, and operational expenses. Oversee daily store operations, including opening and closing procedures, cash management, and inventory control. Ensure compliance with company policies, procedures, and standards, including health and safety regulations. Monitor inventory levels, conduct regular stock checks, and manage replenishment orders. Implement effective loss prevention strategies and procedures.

Requirements:

Bachelor’s degree preferred Minimum five years in retail, including experience in tech-focussed or experiential retail environments. Strong verbal, written, organizational, and communication skills. Excellent problem solving abilities and customer service orientation. Organized, detail oriented, with superb time management skills. Proactive self-starter who exhibits initiative and leadership. Passion for technology and innovation. Proficiency with POS, Google workspace, Word, Excel, and Inventory Management a plus.

Salary:

The salary range for this position is $100,000 to $110,000 per annum.
