Regional Director Job Summary:

The Dispensary Manager oversees the daily operations of a licensed cannabis dispensary in New York, ensuring regulatory compliance, exceptional customer service, and efficient team leadership. This role is responsible for managing staff, inventory, compliance with New York State Office of Cannabis Management (OCM) guidelines, and maintaining a safe, welcoming retail environment. The ideal candidate combines retail management experience with a deep understanding of cannabis laws and best practices.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Compliance & Regulation

• Ensure full compliance with New York’s Marihuana Regulation & Taxation Act (MRTA) and all OCM regulations.
• Maintain accurate records of sales, inventory, and staff training per state requirements.
• Implement and monitor use of the seed-to-sale tracking system (e.g., METRC).
• Manage and report incidents, discrepancies, or regulatory violations to the OCM as required.
• Oversee ID verification processes and enforce purchase limits. 2. Retail & Customer Experience
• Create a professional, educational, and welcoming retail environment for all adult-use customers.
• Manage customer service standards and respond to feedback, concerns, or complaints professionally.
• Oversee visual merchandising and ensure the cleanliness and safety of the store. 3. Staff Management
• Hire, train, schedule, and supervise budtenders, security, and support staff.
• Conduct ongoing compliance and product knowledge training for team members.
• Promote a respectful, inclusive, and positive workplace culture.
• Manage staff performance, conduct evaluations, and handle disciplinary actions if necessary. 4. Inventory Management
• Oversee ordering, receiving, storage, and inventory accuracy.
• Prevent inventory loss through strong security protocols and regular audits.
• Ensure all product labeling, packaging, and storage meet OCM standards. 5. Financial Operations
• Oversee daily cash handling, deposits, and reconciliation processes.
• Monitor store sales performance and meet revenue goals.
• Generate financial reports and provide analysis to ownership or upper management.

Qualifications:

• Must be at least 21 years old.
• High school diploma or equivalent required; bachelor’s degree preferred.
• Minimum 2-3 years of retail management experience; cannabis retail preferred.
• In-depth knowledge of New York State cannabis laws, including adult-use licensing requirements.
• Proven leadership, communication, and conflict-resolution skills.
• Experience with cannabis POS and inventory systems (e.g., Treez,Dutchie, Flowhub, METRC).
• Must pass a background check as required by the OCM.

Preferred Skills & Experience:

• Prior experience managing a licensed cannabis dispensary in NY or another regulated state.
• Familiarity with CAURD (Conditional Adult-Use Retail Dispensary) operations.
• Customer service training or certifications.
• Ability to adapt in a fast-changing regulatory environment.
• Multilingual skills are a plus.
