Multifamily Truss Design Manager Summary:
We are a growingfloors and roofs truss company in the manufacturing industry,providing high-quality trusses, lumber, and box springs, along withresponsive and exceptional customer service. Skilled and educated,the Truss Design Manager works full-time hours in the office,collaborating with sales, dispatch, estimating, and productionteams to ensure designs are successful and properly delivered tocustomers. This position reports to the President/CEO.

Job Duties and Responsibilities:
Work with the SalesManager to ensure that design and estimating meet the sales needsof the company. Field sales and customer calls regarding thequality and compatibility of trusses in the field and handleengineering issues. Communicate with the Truss Production Managerto ensure designs are production-friendly and produced in a timelymanner to support efficient manufacturing. Coordinate with theShipping/Dispatch Department to maximize truck loads and minimizethe need for override permits, while maintaining excellent qualityto reduce returns and handling damage. Collaborate with design andproduction software providers to ensure efficiency acrossdepartments. Train and coach designers to optimize material andlabor savings through efficient truss designs. Maintain internaland external design production to meet sales and productionrequirements. Oversee and communicate with the Design Department,managing five internal Designers, an external design company, aDesign Quality Analyst/IT Administrator, and two Administratorssupporting design-to-production processes. Manage workflow andcommunication within the department; monitor performance, overseedaily work commitments, and ensure compliance with quality andquantity standards. Perform other job duties as assigned.

Experience managingtruss design projects preferred. Ability to manage and resolveconflicts. Leadership skills consistent with company culture,including delivering clear and consistent feedback. Strong deadlinemanagement abilities. Ability to write reports and correspondenceclearly and articulately. Mathematical skills involving wholenumbers, fractions, percentages, and ratios. MiTek softwareexperience is required. Superior communication skills to delivermessages effectively and efficiently. Ability to ensure accurateand efficient designs with a strong focus on customer satisfaction.
Ability to evaluate individual and team design performance.
Collaboration skills to ensure customer project success.
Educationand Experience:
High school diploma or GED required. Four-yeardegree from an accredited university preferred. At least 5 years oftruss design experience and 2 years of design managementexperience; or 7 years of combined education and experience.
