This role involves managing inventory, ensuring product quality, and leading a team to deliver exceptional customer service. The Produce Manager plays a vital role in maintaining the department’s profitability while adhering to company policies and standards. Responsibilities Manage the daily operations of the produce department, including staffing, scheduling, and training team members. Ensure that all produce is fresh, well-stocked, and visually appealing to customers. Monitor inventory levels and perform regular stock assessments to minimize waste and optimize sales. Implement effective merchandising strategies to promote sales and enhance customer experience. Maintain compliance with health and safety regulations regarding food handling and storage. Prepare budgets and manage payroll for the produce department, ensuring financial targets are met. Collaborate with suppliers to source high-quality products at competitive prices. Lead by example in providing excellent customer service and resolving any customer issues or inquiries. Skills Strong mathematical skills for budgeting and inventory management. Experience in retail management or as an assistant manager in a grocery store setting. Proficient in sales management techniques to drive department performance. Ability to lead a team effectively while fostering a positive work environment. Knowledge of stock management practices to ensure optimal product availability. Administrative skills for managing reports, schedules, and departmental documentation.
