JOB DESCRIPTION OVERVIEW
Riverwards Produce is a produce-focused market in Philadelphia The Produce Manager at Riverwards Produce takes ownership of all Produce department operations, staff, and aesthetics. They have an expert knowledge of produce stock and inventory tools. They create and set department priorities, practices, and systems. They serve as the primary executor of purchasing plans, merchandising layouts, and inventory practices. The Produce Manager is ultimately responsible for maintaining well-stocked produce displays, proper receiving and storage, and general department cleanliness. They have an expert knowledge of produce function, storage, and seasonality.

Produce team members
Responsibilities:
Ultimately responsible for all Produce department operations and outcomes
Ensures that regular Produce ordering deadlines are met
Collaborates with General Manager to plan seasonal and rotating merchandising plans
Responsible for coordinating and delegating Produce buying responsibilities
Sets Produce department product mix and schedules display changeovers
Ensures Produce inventory data is complete and accurate including vendor info and product costs
Performs floor duties including receiving, restocking, and ordering
Helps the Buyer execute sales-based purchasing and lean inventory practices
Creates Produce department training materials and conducts regular employee training as needed
Coordinates Produce department communications, updates, and meetings
Responsible for a well-organized and clean Produce backstock area
Responsible for overall fiscal performance of department
Requirements:
Minimum 3 years retail buying and/or managing
Previous management experience in a retail or service setting
Experience receiving, processing, and merchandising produce in a retail setting
Maintains an active drivers’ license, as operating vehicles is a component of your job duties. A clean driving record is required for insurance purposes.
Passion for the principles of sustainable food and farming
A diligent approach to safety and sanitation – ServSafe (or analogous) certification a plus
A team player with a willingness to jump in and help with all store tasks
Ability to lift 50+ lbs and spend 8+ hours standing and walking up and down stairs
Flexibility in scheduling, including mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays

This position is hourly. Compensation is dependent upon experience. Riverwards Produce provides a generous employee discount on all store products, paid parental leave, opportunities for career growth, and flexible scheduling.
