Assistant Grocery Manager 4.0 4.0 out of 5 stars 205 Cedar Lane Road, Greenville, SC 29611 The Swamp Rabbit Grocery is a showcase for local farmers and food artisans. We buy from over 300 local producers to provide the community with a convenient and fun connection to those producers. The Assistant Grocery Manager is an integral member of our team who collaboratively assists in the management of all the day-to-day operations of our grocery, ensuring we remain an appealing, high-quality option for our customers.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

Supports the Grocery Manager in the overall performance, efficiency and profitable operations of the Grocery including sales, controls, margin, labor, and service standards, inventory management, visual merchandising, and team member training and development. Leads team to consistently meet or exceed expectations regarding sales, shrink, freshness, service standards, inventory management and visual merchandising Responsible for preventing internal and external loss; has constant pulse on back stock, delivery schedule and freshness Uses ordering guide to place daily orders to the Warehouse ensuring sell through, shelf capacity, freshness and merchandising needs are addressed Responsible for the effective merchandising and maintenance of appropriate inventory levels to maximize sales, optimize freshness, minimize excessive inventory, and reduce shrink Ensures deliveries to the store are received properly and stocked in a timely manner according to time and temperature standards Dedicates substantial time and efforts to team member training and development; utilizes a variety of teaching tools to ensure team understands the product they work with Holds the Grocery team responsible for productivity and performance by setting goals, providing strong communication, hosting team huddles, incorporating one-on-one coaching, etc Leads, demonstrates and models excellent customer service and customer education techniques leading to increased category sales and team member product knowledge; finds creative ways to “tell the story” of our Farmers and Makers Owns General Grocery category growth; spearheads efforts to grow category sales and motivates team to meet sales goals Thoroughly monitors and reacts to freshness, expiration, quality, seasonal items and special promotions, and trains team to do so the same Regularly communicates with Buyers to share updates on inventory, customer trends and requests, seasonal sets and price adjustments Accountable for transfer and loss logs being used appropriately and flagging issues Communicates and motivates team to hit storewide and department specific goals Takes ownership of on the floor inventory to ensure accuracy of designated categories in POS System and communicates issues, updates or concerns to the Square Administrator; periodically performs physical store inventories As assigned, orders, monitors, merchandises and maintains appropriate inventory levels to maximize sales, optimize freshness, minimize excessive inventory, and reduce shrink Ensures daily cleaning tasks are completed to standards; creates and enforces deep cleaning schedule Oversees and supports Produce and Beer, Wine and Cheese teams as needed Champions in-store shelf-edge pricing signage programto reflect complete and accurate pricing, farm, and information for all products Oversees the merchandising and display of all grocery items, rotates items regularly, updates product mix, and changes displays Thoroughly monitors freshness, expiration, quality, seasonal items, and special promotions Collaborates with the Sales & Marketing Team to develop and arrange for sales/discounts, promotional materials, and in-store displays Provides supervisory hiring, training, taking disciplinary action, evaluating and directing work flow as assigned Provides thorough on-the-job new employee and ongoing training and development of current staff to improve customer service, product knowledge and work efficiency Works independently and addresses challenges within a fast-paced environment with minimal supervision . Fosters company wide teamwork and assists other departments as needed. Performs store walks and other audits; engages with staff on the floor; models behaviors of success; and jumps in to fill staff activities when needed to provide a great customer experience and opportunity for the development of others

JOB REQUIREMENTS

Must be 21 years of age or older required Experience managing a staff required Must have a good working knowledge of Google Suite (Drive, Sheets, Docs) Must be available during regular business hours and weekends required Must have a high school diploma Must agree to background check Must have a valid driver’s license and meet the requirements of the Swamp driving policy Must be able to periodically work in environments with temperatures below 32 degrees F Must communicate by Paylocity, Slack, Asana and email Must adhere to all SCDHEC food safety requirements including following rules of cooling and storing food properly when applicable Is an active part of the Swamp Team so adheres to high standards of service, quality, and presentation and displays the Swamp Core Values Takes initiative to help any area of the business and helps monitor and assist with the management of the whole business of SRCG Performs other duties as assigned and requested. PAY AND BENEFITS
