Performs advanced level administrative duties through knowledge of standard office procedures, advanced word processing equipment, software, and bookkeeping practices as well as college, system, state, and federal regulations and policies. Works with Business Affairs, Human Resources, Information Resource Management, Educational Technology, and the Office of the Chief Academic Officer/Vice Provost as required for job functions. A. Manages the office of Humanities Department. Shares department policies and guidelines with faculty, staff, and students. Refers inquiries to relevant department member or college office. Updates department information as needed to prepare departmental faculty handbook. Manages human resource side of faculty hiring and onboarding in online environment (Colleague, MyMTC, email, D2L faculty resources). Assists with budget and managing procurement and distribution of supplies and instructional materials. Communicates with other college offices (i.e. Operations, Security, Information Resources Management, etc.) to facilitate department activities as needed. B. Initiates contract agreements for full-time faculty (overload/dual employment) and adjuncts. Assists with faculty schedule information flow-and verifies assignments with department chair. Enters, verifies, and updates the academic schedule along with full-time faculty released time and loading into the central computer system. C. Assists with maintaining faculty coursework files, including syllabi, for all department courses and with maintenance of intranet and departmental D2L pages. Assists with monitoring student enrollment and communicating with registered and waitlisted students as needed. D. Prepares and schedules book orders for the department. Maintains supply of desk copies of textbooks and media, distributes to faculty, and maintains records of distribution. Manages equipment inventory, equipment call, assists with mail and Material Inventory Logistics (MIL) functions (storing and/or disposal of department materials, etc.) E. This position is located on the Beltline Campus in the School of English and Humanities – Huminites. Minimum and Additional Requirements A high school diploma. Related clerical experience may be substituted for a high school diploma. Preferred Qualifications Associates degree or high school diploma with two (2) years related work experience and basic knowledge of computer operations. Some positions may require the ability to type at a corrected rate of 35-55 wpm.
