YOUR ROLE AS A MACHINE SHOP MANAGER
As the Machine Shop Manager at Card-Monroe Corp., you will play a pivotal leadership role within our dynamic, innovative culture that prioritizes teamwork. In this full-time, onsite position, you will guide a dedicated team of machinists and technicians, fostering an environment centered around continuous improvement and process excellence. REQUIREMENTS FOR THE MACHINE SHOP MANAGER
To excel as a Machine Shop Manager at Card-Monroe Corp., a blend of leadership, operational expertise, and a commitment to quality and safety is essential. You will lead day-to-day operations, including production scheduling, staffing, and workflow management, driving a culture of accountability and teamwork. Your success hinges on setting clear performance goals and monitoring key performance indicators (KPIs) to steer the department toward success. Experience in continuous improvement is crucial; you will identify and lead projects that enhance productivity and quality, utilizing Lean tools like 5S, Value Stream Mapping, and root cause analysis. A strong emphasis on an InjuryIncident Free (IIF) culture will guide your safety initiatives while ensuring compliance with quality standards. Additionally, you will develop training programs to elevate team skills in Lean practices, mentor staff in problem-solving techniques, and oversee equipment maintenance to minimize downtime, fostering a proactive, innovative environment. Knowledge and skills required for the position are:
LeadershipOperations:
Lead day-to-day operations of the two-shift machine shop operation including production scheduling staffing and workflow. Drive a culture of accountability innovation and teamwork within the shop. Set clear performance goals and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) to ensure departmental success.
Continuous Improvement:
Identify prioritize and lead continuous improvement projects to increase productivity reduce costs and improve quality and safety. Implement Lean tools such as 5S Value Stream Mapping Kaizen events root cause analysis and Standard Work. Use data and metrics to identify bottlenecks and inefficiencies and develop action plans for improvement. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to align shop floor improvements with organizational goals.
QualitySafety:
Be an IIF (IncidentInjury Free) Culture champion and spearhead safety improvement efforts. Ensure all work meets or exceeds internal and customer quality standards.
TrainingDevelopment:
Develop training programs to upskill machinists and operators in Lean practices and technical competencies. Mentor team members in problem-solving and continuous improvement techniques. Foster a learning environment focused on growth and innovation.
EquipmentMaintenance:
Monitor equipment performance and coordinate preventative maintenance to reduce unplanned downtime. Evaluate new technologies and equipment to enhance shop capabilities and efficiency Qualifications and Education Requirements Bachelor’s degree in manufacturing, Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field preferred. Equivalent experience considered.
Experience:
3+ years in a machine shop or precision manufacturing environment, with at least 3 years in a leadership role. Demonstrated success leading Lean or continuous improvement initiatives. Experience with CNC machining, tooling, and process optimization.
