Summary of Position:

The Sales Assistant provides support to the management team within a company’s sales department. They are responsible for performing a clerical duty like completing expense reports, sales proposals and carrying out administrative tasks such as coordinating meetings and office communications. Responsibilities Provide excellent and courteous customer service by receiving calls and understanding customer requirements and needs. This will include correctly capturing customer requests in the company’s ERP system.
Assist and provide clerical support for the sales department. Working as an advisor, inform customers of items not ordered or out of stock per regular ordering process. Offer appropriate alternatives that meet customer needs.
Ensure accuracy of customer information and ensure data entry into company ERP is correct.
Write and distribute email, correspondence memos, letters, faxes, and forms.
Assist in the preparation of regularly scheduled reports.
Develop and maintain a filing system
Record keeping responsibilities may include electronic databases and sales proposals for prospective customers. Handles purchase orders.
Hours

  • Willingness to work a flexible schedule, including weekends, to meet customer and business needs.

Other duties as assigned by the supervisor.

Minimum Requirements:

Education

  • High School diploma or equivalent.
    Experience
  •  At least two years of relevant sales or administrative experience, preferably Seafood or with other proteins.
    Work ethic
  • A sense of urgency in meeting critical and time sensitive deadlines.
    Communication
  • Excellent communicator in written and verbal forms with a strong focus on interdepartmental and customer communications.
Technical:

Excellent working knowledge of Microsoft Office products required, especially Excel, Word, and Outlook. Experience with an ERP system is a plus. A combination of the above will also be considered.
