Business Development:
Corporate & Finance Transactions Department Team Marketing & Business Development Reports to Director of Business Development, Global Corporate & Finance Transactions Department Purpose of job In this role, the Associate Director will drive growth across the global CFT department by assisting and executing strategic firmwide initiatives and spearheading the daily marketing and business development activities for the Corporate Transactions Practice Group, specializing in M&A, Private Equity, and Capital Markets (“CT). Additionally, mentor and provide oversight to divisional teams in the US for Tech & Comms, Tax & Employee Benefits, Energy, and Finance as needed. Reporting directly to the Director of Business Development – Global Corporate Finance Transactions, you will help ensure seamless operational integration and strategic alignment across key business units. Key responsibilities
Strategic Partnership:
Collaborate with the CFT Director of Business Development along with departmental, practice group, and sub-sector leaders to design and implement comprehensive business plans that enhance client engagement across the BCLP global footprint.
Primary Liaison:
Serve as the go-to resource for the CT practice group, providing expert coaching on current and emerging business opportunities.
Market Insights:
Develop a deep understanding of BCLP’s market position and achieve fluency across the global CFT client base; track and share insights on market trends and client behaviors.
Collaborative Leadership:
Work closely with all sectors and services lines to promote CFT Dept expertise; lead cross-departmental and cross-sector initiatives
Pitch & Proposal Leadership:
Lead the development of pitches and RFP responses, promote cross-selling opportunities, and track performance metrics—including origins, progress, wins, and losses and reporting on developments.
Budget & ROI Management:
Work with Practice Group Leaders and attorneys to plan and manage budgets, developing best practices for tracking expenditure and ensuring a robust ROI on business development tactics.
Team Oversight:
Mentor and manage the global BD team —enhancing collaboration with MBD, Business Services, and the attorneys to ensure alignment and operational efficiency.
Project Management. Participate in, manage, champion and create department-wide infrastructure projects and best practices.
Client Teams. Direct and support the growth of assigned CFT department client teams.
Event & Collateral Coordination:
With Events Team, support external client events (e.g., seminars, conferences, trade shows, etc.) and leads the production of compelling collateral materials that reflect our expertise and market position.
Brand Development. Serve as the BD team lead, in collaboration with the Campaigns/Graphics team, on thought leadership campaigns and market-facing initiatives designed to strengthen the firm’s brand and bolster client engagement.
Lateral Integration:
Lead CFT BD efforts associated with lateral integration as connected to relevant PG responsibility, including prioritizing tactics for outreach to existing and prospective clients, working with the partner to define their message, developing and executing on the plan, and providing status reports on developments.
Additional Duties:
Undertake other agency-assigned responsibilities to further business development goals. Experience, Knowledge and Skills Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Marketing, Public Relations or related field.
Minimum twelve years (12) prior global law firm BD/marketing experience, with a proven track record in delivering complex international initiatives.
Adept at operating in multicultural settings and collaborating effectively with diverse internal and external stakeholders.
Proven leadership of global team and team management skills, with the ability to motivate and inspire.
Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills.
Strong project management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks, meet deadlines, and manage multiple projects concurrently.
Strong analytical skills and the ability to interpret data, draw insights, and make data-driven decisions.
Collaborative attitude, ability to work under pressure and with shifting priorities.
