  • We are seeking Sales Managers with high level of performance, endurance and aptitude.

The Sales Manager will be responsible for achieving revenue and sales objectives by selling our event and destination management services to corporate, incentive and association clients. The ideal candidate will be motivated, results-driven and will build relationships with local hotels and the global sales organization to uncover new prospects. The Sales Manager will have patience for a long-term sales cycle for some business, and the agility for short term business. The Sales Manager is responsible for all day-to-day company business development, sales and marketing activities with management responsibility for planning, reporting, forecasting, sales and service.

This role will:

You already LOVE Boston and sell it well. You are a polished, hands-on sales and event manager with 5-10 years of experience in the Boston destination management, event and meeting industry. You know this is a fast-paced position, so you are a fast learner who will passionately represent our firm, services, and industry. Manage sales, including research, development, prospecting, qualifying and prospect communications (daily calls, weekly meetings, 6-12 in person presentations per month); Identify new and different business opportunities towards and beyond sales goals; Manage client and company industry relationships, as assigned; Develop a client base and build ongoing client relationships and accounts; Participate in creative and business proposal writing as the client and opportunity advocate; Prepare and coordinate client site inspections; Manage contract preparation, review and execution; Work with Program Operations team on account financial management and key activities, including regular conference calls, planning site trips, payment schedule, invoicing and final billing. Participate in company programs as requested both on-site and in the pre / post phases; Represent our team at key association and industry groups including tradeshows and local networking events to meet potential clients and develop relationships. Day to Day | Week to Wek Sales Management includes Research, Development, Prospecting, Qualifying and Prospect Communications (calls, meetings, presentations) Represent our team at key association and industry groups including tradeshows and local networking even Managing Client and Company Relationships Managing Creative and Business Proposal Writing including research

  • Content Development and Costing in Excel and Other Applications
  • Prospect and Client Site Inspections
  • Client Communications
  • Competitive Proposal Development which includes Proposal Research, Writing, Outline and Costing Managing Client and Company Relationships Site Inspections; Preparing and coordinating Client Site Inspection and client entertainment with client as outlined Managing Contract Review, Preparation and Execution
  • Management of client contract and deposit schedule as well as changes to the program
  • Facilitating Changes and Additions to Program (Change Orders and Payments)
  • Invoicing Management (Deposits, Final Invoice)
  • Additions to the Contract via a Written Change Order Process
  • Financial Management of Accounts including payment schedule, invoicing and final billing
  • Participating in company programs as requested both on-site and in the pre / post phases.

You know this is a fast-paced position, so you are a fast learner who will passionately represent our firm, services, and industry. You know sales principles and methods for selling products and services. You have, or can easily develop, a consultative sales approach. You should be VERY comfortable and experienced with presenting to clients, virtually and in person. You are a roll your sleeves up, hands on professional. You possess excellent customer service & phone skills, high energy, are obsessed with planning, details and research. You promptly respond to phone calls and emails, and maintain engagement plans for all accounts with a level of detail oriented and organization akin to both a sales role and an event planner. You have a BA/BS or equivalent, and, preferably, you have CMP, CSEP, and / or ADMEI certification. You have a strong working knowledge in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and other software / company CRM. You are mobile and agile! Based in our Boston office, you are energized by hotel visits, client meetings, networking on the go, and responding to last-minute opportunities. You spend 1-2 days per week in North of Boston office for team activities. You have a flexible schedule. You recognize that peak execution months are March through end of June and then again September through December; sales and marketing activities are throughout the year with local, regional and national travel.
