Responsible for the development of new cash management business, the expansion of existing business relationships and the ongoing servicing of customers. Prepares sales presentations, explains and recommends products and services which would be of value to the customer. Assists Commercial Banking personnel in promoting the cash management program. Assists management in the development of new services, modification of existing services, development of marketing strategies and establishment of sales objectives.
The Treasury Management Sales Officer manages a regional business customer portfolio and is responsible for effectively selling the Bank’s depository and treasury management solutions to existing and prospective clients. The TMSO is responsible for achieving growth in fee income and deposits. This position serves as a trusted advisor for business customers, and provides education to customers and colleagues on products, pricing and operations. The TMSO solidifies customer retention by providing a superior customer experience in accordance with NBT Bank’s Mission, Vision and Values.
Education and Experience:
Bachelor’s degree and/or equivalent experience
Minimum 5 years TM sales or relevant TM experience
Certified Treasury Manager (CTP) preferred, not required.
Skills and Abilities:
Demonstrated knowledge of Treasury Management products and related business, financial and risk management processes.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office and presentation software.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Analytical, Attention to detail
Effective negotiating skills
Demonstrated commitment to customer excellence.
Strong presentation skills for effective communication to business customers.
Demonstrated ability to manage time and multiple projects effectively.

Tasks Performed:
50% Sales
- structures and sells new treasury management solutions to business customers. Manages all elements of the sales cycle to include business development, prospect qualification, needs analysis, pricing, sale, legal documentation and closing. Prepares and delivers customized, comprehensive proposals to business customers and prospects to drive growth.
25% Market Leadership - consults with customers as a trusted advisor regarding payments optimization and liquidity. Conducts annual TM relationship reviews with customers to ensure satisfaction and identify new needs. Educates customers on industry trends, new products, and technology enhancements.
15% Sales effectiveness - Collaborates with business partners, including the CMSS and Operations teams, to ensure new services are properly established and the customer experience is optimal.
Recommends enhancements to management based on market knowledge to enhance sales and adoption. Maintains industry knowledge and expertise on competitive landscape, new payments technologies, and regulatory environment to ensure competitive proposals.
5% Projects
- analyzes markets, sectors, geographies or other groups to identify new treasury management opportunities.
Recommends process efficiencies to management, conducts portfolio reviews, facilitates product and pricing actions and other work as needed. 5% Performs any other duties as directed or assigned.
