As a Business Development & Client Advising Specialist, you’ll be at the forefront of that mission—connecting entrepreneurs with the capital, guidance, and partnerships they need to grow. This is a dynamic, relationship-driven role that combines strategic business development with direct client advising. You’ll grow Pursuit’s network of partners and referral sources while helping small business owners overcome barriers to accessing capital and securing valuable advisory support.

What You’ll Do:

Business Development Build and maintain a strong network of bankers, business service organizations, associations, economic development groups, and other referral sources. Educate strategic partners on Pursuit’s lending products and business advisory offerings. Conduct outreach presentations and strategic networking to generate qualified referrals and loan prospects. Assess prospective clients’ business conditions and offer initial guidance on product fit. Develop internal processes, track progress against goals, and report on business development performance. Support grant proposal efforts and monitor related program outcomes. Client Advising Manage a roster of small business clients and proactively guide them to the appropriate advisory services. Identify capital access challenges and support clients with loan readiness, loan packaging, and referrals. Monitor advisory engagements to ensure quality, alignment with client goals, and compliance with funder requirements. Maintain accurate client and engagement records in CRM and related systems. Contribute to content development, event support, and outreach strategy. Potentially manage a portfolio of special projects or programs within Pursuit’s business advisory offerings.

What You’ll Bring:

Bachelor’s or master’s degree in Business, Public Administration, or related field Experience in small business lending, especially loans from $10,000 to $500,000 Knowledge of credit, underwriting processes, and capital access readiness Ability to perform basic credit analysis (e.g., cash flow, tax returns, credit reports) Strong presentation, sales, and interpersonal skills Ability to succeed in a remote work setting and travel within the assigned territory Familiarity with CDFIs or other mission-driven lenders Existing network of bankers and referral partners Experience in program management, consulting, or business advisory services
