Position Summary:

We are seeking a driven and results-oriented Business Development Specialist – Industrial Packaging to spearhead growth initiatives within our packaging segment. This role is responsible for identifying, developing, and closing new business opportunities across manufacturing, distribution, and logistics sectors. The ideal candidate understands packaging systems, materials, automation trends, and has a proven track record in B2B solution selling.

Key Responsibilities:

Identify and pursue new business opportunities in industrial packaging, including stretch film, strapping, case sealing, void fill, and packaging automation. Conduct market research to uncover customer needs, competitor positioning, and emerging trends in packaging technology. Develop a robust pipeline of qualified prospects through cold calling, networking, referrals, and targeted campaigns. Engage customers with a consultative sales approach to evaluate packaging operations, recommend improvements, and deliver ROI-driven solutions. Collaborate with internal stakeholders—account managers, procurement, technical specialists, and operations—to execute successful onboarding and implementation. Meet or exceed monthly and quarterly sales targets, margin goals, and strategic KPIs. Support post-sale customer relationships to ensure long-term satisfaction, retention, and upsell opportunities. Represent SouthernCarlson at industry trade shows, events, and customer sites as needed.

Qualifications:

Minimum 3-5 years of experience in packaging sales, industrial distribution, or a related B2B environment. Strong knowledge of packaging materials, consumables, and/or automated equipment. Proven track record of exceeding sales goals and driving territory growth. Solid understanding of value selling, TCO/ROI analysis, and solution-based selling strategies. Self-starter with strong organizational and time-management skills. Excellent communication, negotiation, and presentation abilities. Comfortable working in a fast-paced, autonomous role with travel up to 50%.

Preferred:

Experience with ERP/CRM systems. Technical aptitude in packaging equipment or automation is a plus. Bachelor’s degree in Business, Packaging, Industrial Engineering, or related field.
