JOB OVERVIEW
The Business Development and Design Representative at TenCate, Sports Division is responsible for driving sales and supporting the design aspects of the company’s turf, track, and lighting products across the sports and leisure sectors. This dual-role position combines business development expertise with design coordination, ensuring that client needs are met both from a performance and aesthetic standpoint. The ideal candidate will have strong experience in sales, customer engagement, and project design consultation—especially within design-build environments involving athletic and recreational facilities.
RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES
Sales & Revenue Generation:
Drive sales of TenCate products to schools, universities, sports venues, and community recreation facilities, with a focus on design-driven project opportunities and value-based selling.
Design Consultation & Support:
Collaborate with clients, architects, engineers, and installers to guide product selection and layout design. Ensure the visual and technical aspects of turf, track, and lighting systems meet project goals.
Client Engagement:
Provide pre- and post-installation consultation, including design review and project scoping. Support clients throughout the product lifecycle, from planning to installation and post-project care.
Market Development & Strategy:
Identify new opportunities within the sports and leisure sectors and help shape design-focused sales strategies. Work with marketing and technical teams to align product presentations with design trends and project needs.
Sales Presentations & Design Proposals:
Lead compelling sales and design presentations to architects, engineers, and facility owners. Provide layouts, specs, renderings, and technical documentation as needed to secure client confidence and buy-in.
Partnership Development:
Cultivate relationships with key industry players including contractors, owners, designers, and facility managers. Serve as a trusted advisor by offering both technical product knowledge and design insight.
Project Coordination & Execution:
Oversee project timelines and milestones in collaboration with internal teams and external partners. Ensure design intent and functional goals are achieved from concept through completion.
Industry Representation & Networking:
Represent TenCate at industry trade shows, design summits, and networking events to build brand awareness and gain market insights.
Reporting & Market Feedback:
Track and report on sales activity, project pipeline, and client feedback. Share design trends and recommendations with internal teams for continuous product and service improvement.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Associate degree (A.A.) or higher in business, design, architecture, or a related field; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Minimum 1-3 years of experience in sales, business development, or design coordination, preferably in the sports construction, synthetic turf, or landscape architecture industries. Strong design sensibility and ability to interpret site plans, layouts, and architectural drawings. Excellent communication, negotiation, and presentation skills. Proficiency in Microsoft Office; familiarity with design software (AutoCAD, SketchUp, or similar) is a plus. Ability to travel as needed for client meetings, site visits, and industry events. Familiarity with synthetic turf, sports surfaces, or outdoor lighting systems is a strong advantage.
