Produce Associate New Morning Natural Foods 3 York Street, Kennebunk, ME 04043 This job will be Sunday-Thursday–it can be as little as 24 hours OR if looking for more hours we can cross train as a cashier associate and be up to 35 hours per week. Overview The Produce Associate plays a crucial role in ensuring that customers have access to fresh, high-quality produce while providing exceptional customer service. This position involves working in a grocery store environment, where the Produce Associate is responsible for maintaining the produce department’s appearance and ensuring that all products meet food safety standards. A strong focus on customer interaction and satisfaction is essential for success in this role. The Produce Associate will work directly under our Produce Manager and must be able to follow directions and work independently. Duties Assist customers in selecting fresh fruits and vegetables, providing knowledgeable recommendations and answering questions about products. Maintain the cleanliness and organization of the produce department, including proper stocking and rotation of products to ensure freshness. Monitor product quality and remove any items that do not meet safety or quality standards. Bagging and labeling produce. Collaborate with team members to manage inventory levels and assist with ordering supplies as needed. Implement food safety practices in accordance with company policies to ensure a safe shopping experience for customers. Provide support in other areas of the grocery store as needed, demonstrating flexibility and teamwork. Skills Strong customer service skills, with the ability to engage positively with customers and provide assistance effectively. Knowledge of retail math to assist with inventory management and product pricing. Familiarity with grocery store operations and produce department functions is a plus. Proficiency in using POS systems Attention to detail and commitment to maintaining high standards of cleanliness and product quality.
