Momar, Inc., a privately owned specialty chemical manufacturing company based in Atlanta, GA, is currently seeking an AquaTrol Assistant Technical Director to join our Momar family. Reporting to the Chief Technical Officer, the AquaTrol Assistant Technical Director is responsible for leading technical support functions for the AquaTrol Division. This includes bid support, product development, sales support, compliance, and product line management across Momar’s platforms (e.g., NAV, Haystack, Elsa), with support from the CTO and AquaTrol Technical Director. The role focuses on delivering engineered solutions for industrial water treatment—such as biocides, boiler chemicals, closed loop inhibitors, and wastewater treatments—while interpreting complex customer systems and applying innovative, analytical approaches to provide tailored solutions. Essential Duties & Responsibilities Participate in technical sales meetings to interpret client challenges, offer solutions, and provide on-site expertise in the field of water treatment as needed. Direct formulary management for the AquaTrol product line, which includes biocide, boiler, closed loop, cooling tower, and general wastewater treatment solutions. Lead research and development initiatives to expand AquaTrol’s product line and capabilities by incorporating new chemistries and technologies. These initiatives should aim to enhance performance, improve production efficiency, reduce costs, and support compliance within the industrial water treatment industry, all while being guided by industry trends. Support sales representatives via phone, email, and lab-based research to provide tailored, problem-specific technical solutions. Assist in managing web-based sales tools, technical marketing materials, and written product demonstrations to better support the sales team and increase the division’s credibility and marketability. Assist the CTO with managing AquaTrol’s relationships with strategic partners and contract manufacturers. Collaborate with vendors on raw material sourcing, equipment, finished goods development, improvements, regulatory updates, and related matters. Assist in auditing customer water treatment operations and preparing detailed technical reports and product recommendations. Provide ancillary support to other divisions such as MoChem, MinTech, Superco, and AIS, as needed. Support the Production and Quality Control Team with batch scale-up and troubleshooting activities. Conduct analyses according to SOPs to achieve accurate, precise, and reproducible quantitative measurements. Ensure all products comply with relevant local, national, and international regulations, including environmental safety and water quality standards. Identify and support opportunities for process improvement and actively participate in process enhancement efforts.
Required Skills/Abilities:
Strong verbal and written communication skills. Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint). Strong analytical, organizational, interpersonal, and time management skills. Ability to make accurate color assessments (e.g., red, pink, blue, purple, yellow, orange) for titration determination. Intermediate knowledge of analytical techniques and equipment, with a demonstrated ability to learn independently. Solid understanding of safe chemical handling practices Strong foundation in basic algebra and general laboratory techniques (e.g., pipetting, weighing, dilutions, digestions). Demonstrated task-oriented work ethic and results-driven prioritization skills. Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
Education and Experience:
Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field (chemistry, engineering, etc.) preferred. Minimum of 5 years of experience in technical support or a related role.
Physical Requirements:
Ability to occasionally lift and/or move up to 30 pounds unassisted and may be required to push/pull heavy materials as needed. Must be able to wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE). Must be able to perform job tasks in environments that may be dusty, hot, and/or cold.
