The ideal candidate will possess a strong background with curriculum and technology integration within educational settings. This role requires a strategic thinker who can effectively manage teams, develop innovative training programs, and ensure the successful implementation of technology solutions that support our curriculum. Responsibilities 1.
Maintaining Technology Infrastructure Hardware Maintenance:
Ensure all computers, projectors, printers, and other technological equipment are functioning properly.
Network Management:
Oversee the school’s Wi-Fi and internet systems to ensure reliable connectivity for students and staff.
Security Management:
Implement cybersecurity protocols to protect the school’s systems and data from cyber threats. 2.
Supporting Educational Tools Software Installation & Updates:
Install and manage educational software, learning management systems (LMS), and other tools used by teachers and students. Integration of Technology in the
Classroom:
Assist in integrating technology into teaching methods, such as smart boards, digital textbooks, and other learning technologies. 3.
Teacher and Staff Training Professional Development:
Provide training and support for teachers and staff on how to effectively use technology in their teaching practices.
Instructional Support:
Help teachers select the right educational technology tools to enhance learning outcomes. 4. Troubleshooting and Technical Support Tech Support for
Students and Staff:
Assist students and faculty with any technical issues they may encounter, from login problems to software glitches.
Help Desk Services:
Set up a support system where users can report issues, and provide solutions or escalate problems as necessary. 5. Implementing and Enforcing Policies Acceptable Use Policies (AUP): Develop and enforce policies related to the acceptable use of technology by students and staff.
Privacy and Compliance:
Ensure that all systems adhere to relevant data protection laws and privacy policies, such as FERPA (Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act) in the U.S. 6.
Evaluating and Selecting Technology Technology Procurement:
Research, evaluate, and recommend new technologies that can enhance the learning environment. Budgeting for
Technology:
Help with the budgeting process by ensuring technology purchases align with the school’s goals and are cost-effective. 7.
Managing Data and Analytics Student Performance Data:
Oversee the use of technology for collecting, storing, and analyzing student performance data.
Reporting:
Assist in generating reports on technology usage, effectiveness, and any issues that arise for administration. 8. Technology Integration for
Special Needs Assistive Technologies:
Ensure that there is access to assistive technology for students with disabilities, making learning more inclusive.
Customization:
Customize educational tools and software to meet the needs of diverse learners. 9.
Communication and Collaboration Technology Communication Channels:
Set up and manage communication systems (email, messaging platforms, etc.) for students, staff, and parents.
Collaboration Tools:
Support tools for virtual collaboration (e.g., Google Classroom, Microsoft Teams) and help ensure teachers and students can work together effectively. 10. Monitoring and Reporting on
Technology Use Usage Monitoring:
Track the usage of technology resources, ensuring that they are being used appropriately and efficiently.
Budget and Resource Allocation:
Report on how technology resources are allocated and utilized to administrators. 11. Fostering a
Tech-Savvy Culture Promoting Digital Citizenship:
Educate students on the ethical and responsible use of technology, including online behavior, digital security, and respect for intellectual property.
Encouraging Innovation:
Encourage the exploration of new and innovative uses for technology in both academic and administrative processes. 12.
Disaster Recovery and Backup Systems Data Backup:
Regularly back up school data to prevent loss in the event of technical failure or cyber attack.
Contingency Planning:
Prepare for potential technology failures or crises by having a plan in place to maintain operations. Overall, the technology department in a school is a vital part of the educational ecosystem, ensuring that technology serves both administrative and educational needs effectively.
