$36.4K – $44.7K a year 17 hours ago Benefits Health insurance Dental insurance Life insurance Retirement plan Qualifications Spanish Mid-level Vietnamese 10 years Full Job Description This research is part of the National Science Foundation funded project Regional Estuary Assessment of Community Health (REACH) which seeks to better understand the integrated socio-environmental system of Tampa Bay. Comprehensive social science surveys will provide essential information about the fishing habits of shore- and boat-based fishers including common locations, species consumed, and culturally important practices. Combined with information about the transport of chemical pollutants in Tampa Bay and their concentrations in different fish species, this research will allow us to better understand the relative risks of contaminated seafood consumption to fishers based on the areas and species they may target. Work with Professors at USF and Eckerd to investigate fishing practices in Tampa Bay. Primary tasks include conducting surveys (in paired groups of surveyors) at shore fishing sites and boat ramps around Tampa Bay. Must be comfortable speaking with new people in diverse contexts. Preferred skills include familiarity with google forms, keen observational skills, and the ability to stay organized. Any fishing experience or ability to speak Spanish or Vietnamese is a plus. Must have access to a car and willingness to drive around the Tampa Bay area (mileage will be reimbursed).
