NMR Spectroscopist 4.1 4.1 out of 5 stars Groton, CT 06340 Currently, Spectrix Analytical Services, LLC is seeking a qualified entry to intermediate level individual for a Full-time permanent position with Spectrix at our client’s site located in Groton, CT. The individual will work to support Open Access and NMR spectroscopy associated in the Analytical Technologies and Compound Management group (ATCM) within Structural, Analytical and Molecular Sciences. The position will focus on providing support for OA and 1D NMR analysis for analytical workstreams driving early drug discovery.

PRIMARY ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES

Perform routine daily maintenance and standardization of Bruker and JEOL Open Access NMR instruments to ensure optimal instrument performance and data quality. Coordinate quarterly and annual preventive maintenance (PM) and cleaning of NMR systems. Monitor system health and communicate performance or maintenance issues to the Medicinal Chemistry department. Reset NMR software daily and system computers weekly to minimize instrument downtime. Respond to technical errors on Open Access instruments that cannot be resolved by NMR superusers. Initiate and manage service work orders for major repairs through internal support systems. Set up new user accounts and train scientists on the safe and effective operation of NMR instrumentation. Support the transition of NMR data to JDX file format and enable account-level access for this functionality. Enable new account capabilities (e.g., temperature control) and provide training for safe use. Collaborate with instrument vendors (Bruker, JEOL) as well as internal LIS and IT support teams as needed. Run standard reference samples to assess shim quality; adjust and save shim settings for automated acquisition.

workflows: Prepare NMR samples using a SamplePro robot in 96-well plate format. Acquire proton spectra from high-throughput plate-based samples. Contribute to high-throughput (HT) reaction monitoring initiatives: Acquire quantitative NMR (qNMR) spectra with solvent suppression techniques. Upload NMR spectra into the internal ACD database for compound tracking and reference. Order chemical compounds through the internal compound ordering platform. Prepare experimental buffers, constitute compounds in solution, and plan experiments in alignment with project needs. Utilize robotic systems for sample preparation and operate NMR instruments using pre-defined experimental protocols. Analyze 1D NMR spectra using predictive software in conjunction with known compound structures. Document all procedures and results in an electronic laboratory notebook (ELN) in accordance with data integrity standards. Maintain laboratory stocks of reagents and consumables via the online purchasing system. Support protein chemistry workflows including in-gel protein digestion and mass spectrometry analysis.

Job Requirements :

Must have strong analytical or organic chemistry background (i.e. BSc in chemistry) to help analyze compounds by 1D NMR. Must possess a working knowledge of analyzing 1D NMR of organic compounds and a good understanding of proper lab safety and documentation protocols. The candidate will be responsible for general laboratory and operational support, including providing logistical support for samples and compounds management, ordering supplies, and carrying out general bench work activities.

Education and Experience:
