Job Description

Campus Services Specialist (Chemistry & Biochemistry) 4.3 4.3 out of 5 stars Tallahassee, FL Department Department of Chemistry & Biochemistry | Florida State University College of Arts & Sciences Responsibilities This position serves as the Chemistry & Biochemistry Department Stockroom Assistant. The candidate will be responsible for coordinating central receiving for the department, maintaining stockroom inventory (including gas cylinders) and performing procurement tasks for the stockroom, which serves all campus users needing to purchase ethanol, dry ice, and liquid nitrogen.

Major Duties:

Serving as subject matter expert for the Chemistry Department stockroom, as well as the point-of-contact for the stockroom and departmental inventory and receiving inquiries Overseeing all stockroom and departmental receiving transactions: intaking all deliveries from various carriers matching appropriate documentation to ensure orders are correct manually tracking all deliveries via receiving log working with departmental staff to ensure orders are received in a timely manner Updating appropriate ordering laboratories upon item receipt Developing and maintaining relationships with vendors, PIs, staff, and other departments to ensure smooth operations and provide positive customer service Maintaining stockroom inventory and other high-demand items, such as deuterated solvents, not available through the VWR stockroom Assisting the Sr. Campus Services Specialist with creating and maintaining an online database of products available in the stockroom Conducting sales of ethanol (EtOH), dry ice (CO2), and liquid nitrogen (LN2); maintaining ethanol ordering log to ensure compliance with federal license limit Serving as liaison between vendors and ordering laboratories to ensure correct ordering and delivery of liquid and gas cylinders; ensuring that cylinders are picked up by correct laboratories and that returned cylinders meet vendor’s requirements

Other Duties:

Recording data into internal and FSU operating systems Maintaining computerized analysis and reconciliation of stockroom inventory and departmental capital inventory; compiling and submitting required inventory reports to Department Chair and supervisor Ensuring campus business operations and services are up to policy Performing purchasing for stockroom by initiating requests for bids, obtaining quotes, initiating purchase orders, completing orders for non-catalog items in SpearMart, etc. Serving as backup purchaser for the Department of Chemistry & Biochemistry Providing assistance to departmental building managers Assisting with faculty requests for item relocation Providing additional support to research maintenance Qualifications Bachelor’s degree; or a high school diploma or equivalent and four years of experience. (
