Job Description Summary
Seeking experienced and self-motivated candidate for the position of Research Assistant Professor available in the laboratory of Dr. Ozgur Sahin. Dr. Sahin is a Professor and SmartState Endowed Chair in the Department of Biochemistry & Molecular Biology at MUSC. Sahin’s laboratory focuses on identifying the mechanisms of drug resistance/metastasis and target these resistance/metastasis-driving factors with either own developed compounds or available drugs to overcome resistance/block metastasis. The successful candidate will work at the intersection of overcoming resistance to therapy and metastasis in breast cancer. The candidate will handle various Cell and Molecular Biology tools and techniques, including mouse xenografts, PDXs, Western blots, qPCR, flow cytometry, fluorescence microscopy, cell-based growth and apoptosis assays, CRISPR-Cas9 gene knockout and high-throughput sequencing technologies, such as single cell RNA-seq and ATAC-seq. Furthermore, the candidate will prepare grants and assist the PI of the lab on writing grants proposals in addition to supervising junior members of the lab.

Job Description
Job Duties
1. Provide unique leadership in cancer & cell biology (continuum of technologies and direct mentoring laboratory skills to younger members) in the laboratory.
30% of total effort
2. Conduct in vitro and in vivo experiments to overcome therapy resistance and block metastasis by combining several in vitro assays, and doing in vivo efficacy experiments, and in vivo imaging and histology methods.
30% of total effort
3. Preparation of data for dissemination; duties include preparing figures and writing manuscripts, presenting data at local and national conferences, and preparing grants and assisting the PI of the lab on writing grants proposals.

4. Maintain accurate detailed records of all experiments performed on a daily basis.
