They are, however, covered by Worker’s Compensation provisions.
However, any non-permanent employee hired to work 30 or more hours per week for three months or more (cumulative of all positions, and not designated as variable hour worker), must be offered the chance to enroll in the High Deductible Health Plan, within 30 days of their eligibility. Any non-permanent employee hired to work less than 30 hours per week (cumulative of all positions or designated as variable hour worker – i.e. student workers) are measured during designated measurement periods. If they average 30 or more hours per week over a designated measurement period, they will be offered the chance to enroll in the High Deductible Health Plan and will be notified of instructions.

Minimum Experience/Education Graduation from credited college and two years of experience in laboratory work; or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
Departmental Preferred Experience, Skills, Training/Education:
BS or MS in Biology or related field, and 6 months experience in a laboratory, or an equivalent combination of training and experience is desired but not required.
Experience with DNA extraction and PCR is preferred
Experience with DNA sequencing is a plus
Ability to Work on Multiple Tasks
Good Organizational Skills
Willingness to Assume and Learn Responsibilities
Excellent Communication Skills
Demonstrate Troubleshooting Skills
Strong Attention to Detail
Basic Microsoft Word and Excel Knowledge Duties and Responsibilities Under limited supervision, conducts molecular biology experiments, such as DNA extraction, DNA sequencing, and quantitative PCR. Perform tests and document results on Qubit, Fragment Analyzer, automated liquid handler, and plate reader, among others. Other duties as assigned. Attendance and punctuality are required. Other Work/Responsibilities Set up and run tests and experiments
Contribute to receiving and logging of the lab supplies and consumables within an inventory
Collect, organize, and record data and documents
