This is a 9-month, full-time faculty position reporting directly to the Academic Dean of Science & Mathematics. The instructor is responsible for teaching 15 load hours in each Fall and Spring semesters in Biological/Life Sciences, specifically Anatomy & Physiology and Microbiology.
Starting date August 3, 2025.
Essential Duties:
The instructor will primarily teach Anatomy & Physiology and Microbiology courses but may teach additional courses in the biological or life sciences, managing their own lecture and laboratory sections
Prepare course syllabi, submit grades by established deadlines, and maintain student records in accordance with FERPA regulations
Hold 10 office hours per week to facilitate interaction with students, other faculty, staff, administrators and the public
Teach courses at the Bentonville or Washington County Campus as needed
Teach mornings, afternoons, evenings, or weekends as needed
Meet assigned classes, ensure learning outcomes are achieved, provide timely feedback on student assignments, and participate in course-level assessment
Work with other faculty and administrators to articulate learning outcomes, develop curriculum, participate in development of course-level assessment, and aid in selection of course materials
Attend departmental, divisional, and college-wide meetings as scheduled
Participate in faculty business meetings
Participate in professional development opportunities
Serve on standing and ad hoc committees, advisory boards, hiring committees, faculty senate, or as a student organization advisor
Mentor and/or assist in orienting new faculty either formally or informally
Participate in the formative and summative faculty evaluation process
Attend commencement or other ceremonies appropriate to the faculty member’s discipline or program
Perform other academic duties as assigned by the instructor’s supervisor
Minimum Qualifications:
Master’s degree with at least 18 graduate hours related to Anatomy & Physiology, Microbiology, Biology or life Science required
Fifteen graduate hours in a supporting secondary science is preferred
One year teaching experience
Preferred Qualifications:
PhD or hours beyond a Master’s level is a plus
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Must demonstrate teaching ability. Instructional experience at a community college is a plus
Must be knowledgeable of good laboratory procedures and governmental safety regulations regarding lab safety
Must be able to teach in-person classes. Additional ability to teach online and hybrid modalities is preferred
Must be able to use a web-based learning management system. Canvas experience is preferred
Must be able to use technology for instruction, which will vary by discipline
Must possess the ability to communicate with others in a clear, understandable and professional manner and demonstrate use good written and verbal communication skills
Must possess effective time management and organizational skills, with the ability to prioritize and multitask to meet deadlines
Should be able to work effectively with other faculty, staff, and administration within the institution
Rate of pay determined by faculty scale placement (education and years of experience)
