Job Description
The School of Physical Therapy and Rehabilitation Sciences seeks exceptional candidates for an Open Rank, Tenure-eligible position in our DPT program. This recruitment is part of an initiative to enhance the growing research portfolio of the school. The successful candidate must have an independent line of research broadly related to biomedical or health sciences as demonstrated by a strong publication record and history of extramural funding. The successful candidate will be expected to develop and/or lead an extramurally funded research program, engage in collaborative research endeavors with existing and future faculty members, and contribute to all mission areas of the school. Priority will be given to candidates whose areas of research compliment current SPTRS strengths in one or more of the following areas: applied physiology, biomechanics and motor control, environmental medicine, health services research, and/or technology and rehabilitation. Competitive salary support and start-up funds will be provided, and rank will be commensurate with experience and accomplishments. The School of Physical Therapy and Rehabilitation Sciences houses the Human Functional Performance Laboratory, a 6,500 square foot space with equipment for instrumented gait analysis, dynamometry, and quantitative balance testing. Additional wet lab space is available in the College of Medicine. Clinical and translational research opportunities are available through the Byrd Alzheimer’s Research Institute and the Cardiac Institute, the Morsani Center, and Tampa General Hospital. Faculty within the school maintain active collaborations with engineering, College of Pharmacy, College of Nursing, and the nearby James A Haley
VA.MINIMUM
Entry-level degree in Physical Therapy (BS, MS, or DPT). Academic post professional doctoral degree from an accredited institution or the highest degree appropriate in the field of specialization with a demonstrated record of achievement in teaching, research, and service. Evidence of creative work, professional writing or research in refereed and other professional journals. Must meet university criteria for appointment to the rank of Assistant Professor, Associate Professor, or Professor. A history of research publications and potential for federal (NIH, DoD, NSF) funding are required. Must be a physical therapist who is eligible for PT licensure in Florida prior to start date
PREFERRED
- Post-doctoral training.
- Active, federal funding as PI (e.g., NIH, NSF, DoD)

RESPONSIBILITIES
- Seek and obtain extramural research funding.
- Work within the USF Health interprofessional academic setting of SPTRS of the Morsani College of Medicine to expand research initiatives.
- Responsible to a Chair or other appropriate administrator of a State university.
- Responsible for teaching, research, service, and related administrative activities.
- Responsible for academic related activities.
- Represent the university, college/school, or department/unit on university and/or Statewide committees.
- Collaborate with existing researchers and infrastructure with the School of Physical Therapy and Rehabilitation Sciences – current areas of research include: Applied physiology, biomechanics and motor control, environmental medicine, health services research, technology and rehabilitation, and scholarship of teaching and learning.
