Postdoctoral Fellow, Marine Invertebrate Microbiomes 3.4 3.4 out of 5 stars 5800 Bay Shore Road, Sarasota, FL 34243 Description This postdoctoral position concerns the study of the development and analysis of experiments to facilitate the collection and analysis of data needed to develop models of microbiome assembly in marine invertebrate hosts. Examples of Duties Fieldwork during the summer, including placing and retrieving settlement plates attached to cinder blocks, settlement lines, or other devices Processing collected plates by photographing said plates, preserving samples, keying out and identifying individual organisms, preparing samples for DNA analysis, and barcoding Supervising and mentoring undergraduate and high school students Laboratory management Library research Analyzing, writing up, and publishing the resulting research in a peer-reviewed journal Grant writing Other duties as assigned. Minimum Qualifications Recently received a PH.D. in Marine Biology or a related field, be familiar with near-shore marine invertebrates and their habitats. Must have experience preparing samples for next-generation sequencing and sequencing with Illumina and nanopore technology.
