The Medical College of Gia (MCG) is one of the nation’s largest medical schools by class size, with students per class. Job Summary
Participate in research data collection and documentation within relevant guidelines and protocols; develop and evaluate new research techniques and procedures; publish results in scientific journals. Perform bone studies using gene knockout mouse models. Perform cell culture, molecular biology experiments, minor surgical, microscopic, and statisticalputational analyses. Will help to maintain mouse breeding colonies. Will perform other duties as assigned.
Responsibilities
Responsibilities to include but are not limited to
Participate in research data collection and documentation within relevant guidelines and protocols; develop and evaluate new research techniques and procedures; publish results in scientific journals.
Perform experiments using conditional knockout mouse models and drug treatment to study changes in bone densitystructure, as well as marrow inflammation.
Perform molecular biology experiments such as qRTPCR, cell culture, microscopic, and statistical analysis.
Will help to maintain mouse breeding colonies and genotyping. Will perform other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
A Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in chemistry, biology, biochemistry, cell biology, orthopedic, or other natural, life, health care or materials science directly related to the research area to which the position is assigned and experience in research, basic science, or a clinical setting particularly clinical trials research and minimum of two years of applicable experience.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience in the field of bone research (Osteoporosis) with expertise in lab animal handling and molecular biology skills are preferred.
