Job Summary A postdoctoral position is available in the laboratory of Dr. Manas Ranjan Gartia in the Department of Mechanical and Industrial Engineering, Louisiana State University. This NIH-funded research aims to explore the molecular mechanisms underlying cell death, particularly ferroptosis, alongside molecular and cell biology. Additionally, it investigates techniques for conducting single-cell metabolomics and spatially mapping lipids in both cells and tissues. Proficiency in bioinformatics will be helpful. We are looking for enthusiastic postdoctoral fellows who are self-motivated and capable of advancing research projects independently, while also thriving in a collaborative setting. Good writing skill and wet-lab skill is highly desirable. The successful candidate will focus on understanding fundamental biological processes and mechanisms. Job Responsibilities 70% Design, plan, and execute experiments to investigate cellular and molecular processes related to cancer biology, or neurobiology or adipo biology. Perform techniques such as cell culture, molecular cloning, PCR, Western blotting, immunofluorescence microscopy, and flow cytometry. Conduct genetic and biochemical analyses to elucidate signaling pathways, gene expression patterns, and protein interactions. Generate and analyze data using relevant software and statistical tools. 20% Maintain accurate records of experiments, protocols, and results in laboratory notebooks and electronic databases. Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to contribute to the design and execution of research projects. Stay current with advances in cell and molecular biology by reviewing scientific literature and attending seminars and conferences. Present research findings at internal meetings, scientific conferences, and through publications in peer-reviewed journals. 5% Contribute to lab maintenance and housekeeping. Participate in Gartia Group meetings and coordinate with graduate students and other group members of research team. 5% Other duties as assigned. Minimum Qualifications Ph.D. degree in Cell Biology, Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, or a related field. Strong theoretical and practical knowledge of cell and molecular biology techniques. Hands-on experience with cell culture, molecular cloning, PCR, Western blotting, immunofluorescence microscopy, and flow cytometry. Proficiency in data analysis using software such as GraphPad Prism, ImageJ, or similar. Excellent organizational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines. Preferred Qualifications 1 or more years of experience with cancer biology, flow cytometry, molecular biology techniques, cell culture, and murine tumor models is preferred. Strong wet lab skills, strong background in molecular and cell biology, immunology, biochemistry, LC-MS techniques, Spectroscopy and microscopy imaging techniques is highly desirable. However, the most relevant quality is drive and curiosity toward understanding new techniques, new science, and cell biology.
